Very excited about Fraizer. Third round pick in the 2019 draft, #95 overall, out of the University of Arizona. Evidently, he made a pretty big swing adjustment and has been crushing A+ pitching out of the leadoff spot.

He's put up that line in 300 ABs, so a promotion to Altoona is overdue. Plus, he'll turn 24 in the offseason. Obviously, his time at Greensboro has really worked out. But the Pirates should be aggressive and promote him to see if he's another Jason Martin or something more.

Matthew Fraizer currently has a .998 OPS in 376 plate appearances this season. The last Pirates' minor leaguer with an OPS greater than .950 in 350+ plate appearances was Steve Pearce in 2007.

Pirates' Cal Mitchell: Five-hit game in Double-A

Mitchell went 5-for-6 -- all singles -- with five RBI and a run scored for Double-A Altoona on Tuesday.
Once considered a bat on the rise, Mitchell lost a lot of his prospect luster after a subpar 2019 that saw him post a .710 OPS alongside 142 strikeouts in High-A. However, he's been a changed man this season, cutting his strikeout rate all the way from 2019's 28.8 percent to just 17.2 percent this season. He's also sitting on a .283/.334/.453 batting line -- the best of his minor-league career. The 22-year-old doesn't look like he's on a fast track to stardom, but he's at least elevated himself from forgotten man to likely future big-league outfielder.

I visited Indianapolis for Friday and Saturday's games. Here are my 2 day scouting observations that you can take with a grain of salt. Suwinski has major league power. Madris is a major league hitter. Tucapita Marcano is a major league player that knows how to make things happen. I don't know if any of them will be every day players, but they are my favorite. I think Swaggerty and Hoy Park needs another year or two in the minors, but will figure it out. Rodolfo Castro has some pop and speed, but will be a .230 hitter. Mason Martin has a great attitude and can hit some bombs, but still has holes in his game. Ji-Hwan Bae will come in with the same flare that Cole Tucker brought. Miguel Yajure has some filthy stuff, but still throws too many bad pitches. I learned all of that in 2 days.
