Final Commentary on the the 2023 PSAC Season.

First off, i would like to thank all the PSAC fans and friends and others for their great support of Husky's Div II football page. As always, it was a lot of fun and it has developed into a great hobby for him. Now let's get on with it.

Husky was greatly enthused about the improvements shown by the programs at Seton hill and Lock Haven. That development certainly bodes well for at least a trace of parity developing in the PSAC. Kudos to both programs--both coaches and players. It was somewhat disappointing to see Millersville's program dissolve as the season progressed, especially since the Marauders showed quite a bit of promise early on. The Bloomsburg season was quite dark and foreboding for quite a while until they sprang two upsets on Millersville and Shepherd (a qualifier for the post season), but the last game the Huskies fell back to their old ways and were dominated and shut out by a barely .500 team IUP. The Huskies' highlight was an inexplicable 14--10 win over playoff bound Shepherd late in the season. There is not much to say about Shippensburg, who had trouble scoring all season, Unusual for the Red Raiders to be so ineffectual on offense--similar to Bloomsburg. Let us not forget Shepherd who has made the playoffs with a 9-2 record, but will be playing a 10--1 Lenoir Rhyne team of the SAC in the southern super region. Many a good thing can be said about East Stroudsburg and Kutztown. They both made the post-season, but the Golden Bears' crushing defeat of Slippery Rock in the PSAC championship game was incredible. There is nary a person who could have imagined that SRU would ever be manhandled like that by any team in the PSAC. As Husky has often intimated: "That is why they play the games!'

Husky has already mentioned the progress that Seton Hill has demonstrated. IUP was a surprise in a negative sense and just barely had a winning season. Edinboro probably had more downs than ups, but did capture a nice win at the end of the season against Lock Haven, which did dampen Bald Eagle enthusiasm over what was a seemingly decent season. Clarion had another rather dismal season, and was often overmatched in the PSAC West. California had one big win over Kutztown (Remember them?) and was in the playoff hunt until the final game with East Stroudsburg did them in. The Vulcans' two losses came at the hands of two teams who have made the playoffs. Gannon had a mediocre season with an offense that could not put their record on the winning side of the ledger. Mercyhurst simply did not have the horses this year. Lastly Slippery Rock was simply untouchable throughout the year and were favored by many if not most to beat Kutztown for the championship. As we all know, it did not turn out that way. Everybody knew The Golden Bears play great defense, but not to the degree they showed against SRU. They also scored 31 points. It was a sight to behold. So now here we are at playoff time. Husky expects "The Rock" to redeem itself against East Stroudsburg in the first round, and he thinks Kutztown at home will also be able to subdue Virginia Union. In the second week, Husky sees Kutztown having a better shot at reaching the super regional final than SRU. The big challenge for both "The Rock" and the Golden Bears in the super region will in all likelihood be Tiffin of the GMAC. Looking forward to it all! See you all on Saturday, November 18.
