IUP
Bloomsburg* This is an interesting game. The Huskies have two upsets in a row. Husky is looking for a third! Redman Stadium has been at times a snake pit for IUP in the past.

Regional Rankings as of November 6

https://www.d2football.com/regional-ran ... 1-06-2023/

Notice that the PSAC still has 5 teams in the rankings, and the MEC has three. The Northeast
Ten has one, as does the GMAC. In two big PSAC games, California visits East Stroudsburg, and Slippery Rock will be playing at Kutztown for the overall PSAC championship. Obviously, the outcomes of both of these games will go a long way in determining which teams from the PSAC will be selected to make the post season. The loser of the ESU--Cal game will most assuredly be eliminated. If Kutztown should defeat SRU, both teams will have a great shot at being included in the post season. If SRU wins, it is highly likely Kutztown with three losses will meet the same fate as either ESU or California and be OUT. Shepherd playing Mercyhurst still has a good shot at getting in because they beat both ESU and California but not Kutztown in the regular season. Husky erred earlier when he said Shepherd had beaten Kutztown. Now corrected. It is a lead pipe cinch that Tiffin of the GMAC will be awarded a slot, and Ashland with a strength of schedule cannot just yet be excluded. Husky can't speak very much for the Northeast 10 or the MEC, but most likely the MEC will get at least one spot (most likely Charleston) if not two teams in the mix. It depends on what happens this coming weekend. Getting back to the PSAC, the ESU loss to Kutztown earlier in the season could weigh heavily if Kutztown gets its third loss against SRU. Lastly, with 7 teams in each Super Region included, I suspect New Haven of the Northeast 10 will also get a spot, if they don't lose to Bentley on Saturday; as the NCAA has a way of including all conferences from a region (earned access?), if I am not mistaken. We shall see. Enough speculation!

Commentary

So what is it with the Bloomsburg Huskies pulling off two upsets on two consecutive weekends? First it was Shepherd and then Millersville. The defense won the game against Shepherd, but the offense tallied 34 points against Millersville to pick up the usually stingy defense which gave up 31. Question is! Can the Huskies at home make it a hat trick against IUP which sports an unusually mediocre record. Shepherd--playing Mercyhurst this weekend-- with its decisive win over East Stroudsburg took a big step in paving its way into the post season. Meanwhile, in what would be the game of the week were it not for SRU and Kutztown playing for all the marbles, California and ESU meet up with both teams trying to preserve their hopes for the a playoff berth. The loser of this game is most likely out of the running for a slot in the post season. Of interest also is whether Lock Haven can enhance its already greatly improved performance by getting another win at home against Edinboro.. The same is true for Seton Hill who is visiting Millersville, the latter of whom has ended up no matter what with what can best be described as a disappointing record. The same is true for West Chester hosting Clarion. The Golden Rams simply did not meet expectations this year. Most likely, Gannon will be able to gather another win against Shippensburg, who has all sorts of problems scoring. A so-so year for the Golden Knights. Last but not least, there is the PSAC championship game at Kutztown with undefeated and highly ranked Slippery Rock, who can score a ton of points. In spite of being the visitors at Andre Reid Stadium, it is hard to believe that Kutztown's sturdy defense will be able to hold down the high powered, high scoring offense of "The Rock". Kutztown will have to play an almost perfect game to come away with the win. Husky doesn't see that happening. The Golden Bears might be able to keep it close in the first half, but it will probably be a case of SRU pulling away in the second half. One other thing is that Kutztown's losing this game would give them three losses and could very possibly put them out of playoff consideration--assuming a couple of other things happen on Saturday. Last chance to see a regular season PSAC game!! As always, it has been my pleasure. Don't forget to look in on the playoff selections on Sunday.

Halftime between Slippery Rock and Kutztown

Quite surprisingly, it has been all Kutztown who leads17--0. SRU has really done very little and has been on their heels the entire game. Don't think many people expected such Kutztown domination. It IS going to take a remarkable comeback by "The RocK" to get back into this game against a very good Kutztown defense.

PSAC football Scores for Saturday November 11, 2023

Shepherd 49 Mercyhurst 25 This win should put the Rams in the post-season

West Chester 34 Clarion 7 Golden Rams get the win for Coach Swann for his last game.

IUP 31 Bloomsburg 0 IUP salvages a winning record, and the Huskies revert to the no-score offense. Disappointing effort by Bloomsburg after notching two wins.

Seton Hill 31 Millersville 10 The Griffins further improve their season record, and Millersville goes out quietly.

KUTZTOWN 31 Slippery Rock 7 Kutztown wins the PSAC title with a stellar effort whereas SRU was dominated by the Golden Bears the entire game. Most PSAC fans did not EVER SUSPECT such would be the outcome. This result will have playoff ramifications to say the last.

Edinboro 36 Lock Haven 30 Lock Haven's season loses a lot of luster with this loss. Kudos to the Fightin' Scots!

Shippensburg 17 Gannon 10 Hard to believe Gannon could only score 10 points.

East Stroudsburg 37 California 30 Warriors most likely in the playoffs, and the vulcans will be out.

Husky had his worst day ever picking winners with a record of 2 and 6. He ends the season with a cumulative record of 76--27. Thus ends another PSAC football season. This final Saturday produced some of the most unexpected results and some really major disappointments, which one could never anticipate. It was witness to some of the strangest outcomes that one could ever see, further proving the adage: "That's why they play the games!" It is now time to move on to the post season. Congratulations to the Golden Bears of Kutztown on winning the PSAC Championship. They readily earned it with their convincing win over favored Slippery Rock today!! Game reports to follow.
