Re: Gamel Signs for $1.8 Million

The one year deal fills spots on the MLB roster, but also allows the player to become potential trade bait if he ends up being valuable during the season. I am not a big Gamel fan but he did bring a lot of energy and leadership to the clubhouse. I love the energy and professionalism of Gamel. I jus...

With an inexperienced pitching staff, I would think it is a pretty important job in the Pirates development process.

Re: Gamel Signs for $1.8 Million

By the Pirates signing veterans to one year contracts, I am guessing we are in no hurry to bring up the young guys.

Re: Colin Moran DFA'd

The Pirates now have no remaining pieces from the Cole deal, as they previously traded pitcher Joe Musgrove to the San Diego Padres and cut ties with reliever Michael Feliz and outfielder Jason Martin. Good. We can move on from that now. Actually we might bring the trade up again about 8 years afte...

Re: Stallings Golden

I think in the era of having platoon catchers, I can't think of a better guy to take Henry Davis under his wing. Stallings has worked hard over his career to get where he is at. He is smart and he gets it. If we are serious about building a winning program with a bunch of young guys, Stallings in m...

Re: Clint Frazier DFA'd

I am fine with signing him, only if we think we can develop him into a long term starting outfielder.....and that we are willing to pay him what he is worth. Otherwise, he just takes away at bats from the guys that will be our future outfielders.

Re: Pirates Sign Jose Quintana

I would rather have Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Cease and the 2 prospects that the Cubs traded to acquire Jose Quintana. (Just a dig on the Cubs.) Actually, I am fine with the Quintana signing. I don't think we have many good pitchers that are currently being blocked from getting major league innings. I do ...

Cutch wasn't very happy when Marte replaced him as the center fielder. This might make him feel any better if the Phillies let him walk, but sign Marte.

Re: Off Season Thread

I would like to see a main focus for next year's rebuild to be to get at bats and innings for some of these players below. We won't know for most of these guys how good they will be or even if they will make it in the bigs until we get them at bats. The next couple years after that we can sprinkle i...

Re: No more postseason for me

One could argue the Red Sox are bigger cheater than the Astros, the Astros were just dumber and more smug about it. One year the Red Sox get caught stealing signs on their ipads. Then after their big warning, they caught stealing signs through technology in 2018 in their world series victory. Manfre...

Re: Not impressed with Shelton

The safest managerial positions to keep are the ones with little expectations to win. Jayce Tingler getting fired as the Padres manager was easy to see. Mike Schildt's Cardinals winning 17 in a row to make the play-offs was not enough to save his job. He was fired today. The Yankees who haven't had ...

Re: Cole Tucker Night

Seems like everyone and their mother has predicted that Cruz won't stick in the middle infield long term. For the 2022 squad, I have to think that him at SS with adequate defense and his bat are more valuable than any defense that Newman or Tucker are going to provide there. I agree with you and ho...

Re: Fourteen games to play

Wins are a tough stat nowadays in this era of baseball. Starters rarely go more than 5 or 6 innings. Brent Suter had 12 wins from the Brewers bullpen this year. I couldn't agree more. Even though I still love baseball, I think you pointed out what I dislike the most about today's game. It might sta...
