Re: No more postseason for me

One could argue the Red Sox are bigger cheater than the Astros, the Astros were just dumber and more smug about it. One year the Red Sox get caught stealing signs on their ipads. Then after their big warning, they caught stealing signs through technology in 2018 in their world series victory. Manfre...

Re: Not impressed with Shelton

The safest managerial positions to keep are the ones with little expectations to win. Jayce Tingler getting fired as the Padres manager was easy to see. Mike Schildt's Cardinals winning 17 in a row to make the play-offs was not enough to save his job. He was fired today. The Yankees who haven't had ...

Re: Cole Tucker Night

Seems like everyone and their mother has predicted that Cruz won't stick in the middle infield long term. For the 2022 squad, I have to think that him at SS with adequate defense and his bat are more valuable than any defense that Newman or Tucker are going to provide there. I agree with you and ho...

Re: Fourteen games to play

Wins are a tough stat nowadays in this era of baseball. Starters rarely go more than 5 or 6 innings. Brent Suter had 12 wins from the Brewers bullpen this year. I couldn't agree more. Even though I still love baseball, I think you pointed out what I dislike the most about today's game. It might sta...

Re: Fourteen games to play

We now have 4 games left to play this year. I don't want to state the obvious that the Pirates are missing an ace, but the winningest starting pitcher on the Pirates this year has 5 wins. The winningest pitcher on the roster Chris Stratton has 6 wins, but got his wins all in relief. I wonder if any...

Re: Richard Rodriguez Left Off Braves Playoff Roster.

Despite the high ERA, I like what I have seen from Bryse Wilson so far. He has the potential stick in the Pirates rotation for a while. I liked Richard Rodriguez with the Pirates, but still a good trade for the Pirates in my opinion.

Re: Oneil Cruz Being Promoted

The Pirates might have hit the jackpot on this trade, but at the time of the trade in 2017 a good set-up man was all he was worth in the open market. In 2016, he had no homers in his 187 at bats. In 2017, he had little power with a .237 batting average and struck out 1/3 of the time. Someone in the ...

Re: Contreras Getting Called Up

Taillon went 8 and 6 this year with the Yankees to go along with his 4.40 ERA. He is injured again and questionable for post-season.
I like the fact that the Pirates received 4 top 30 prospects for him. Contreras is the main guy though.

Re: Rays Calling Up Shane Baz

When the trade was made, I wasn't super upset about Glasnow. I really thought his lack of any control would be undoing in the majors. I was not in favor of including Meadows, and I REALLY wasn't in favor of including Baz. Yeah all those people complaining about Glasnow forget his Pirates career fro...

It is also extra nice to see them most likely play a part in bouncing the Reds from the play-off picture......at least for me anyway.

Re: Promoted

September expanded rosters were fun for teams out of the play-off picture. If we were in this situation a few years ago, I think Cruz and those guys would be getting September call-ups to the majors (not to triple A). Being a prospect junkie like I am, I miss seeing the prospects getting called up. ...

and the kicker is Archer is back with the Rays along with the 3 guys we traded them. :) I wish them all luck.

He is hitting .309 for the Pirates with 7 homers in 68 at bats. .400 obp, ,721 slugging. (as of 9/15)
Hopefully he wants to stay with the Pirates, assuming he doesn't want to play back in Japan again.
