WOW! What a fun game, which makes for a much more enjoyable and easier, Goats and Stars post. The Bucs looked like they had earlier in the year... Great starting pitching by JMac...super bullpen work, good defense....doing just what they needed to to win. The good guys come out on top in a nail-biter. Keep it up Buccos!

STARTER: JMac. Six innings. Just two hits. Three walks. NO RUNS! It's not just the numbers, he LOOKED good! Would liked to have gotten another inning out of him, but that was because they wanted to PH, not because of anything JMac did...plus I liked the fact that Hurdle got him out of the game when he did, making CERTAIN this was a GREAT START for JMac! One final note...just listened to the post game interview with the Fort and he said that Mac finally got back to his former self because he pitched with a chip on his shoulder, showed some swagger he has not shown for a while..wanted to take the ball and throw it!

WIN: JMac gets the win to improve to 11-5, and lowers his ERA to 3.61. He also K'd 7 guys!

HOLD: Resop (#8) (even though a little shaky), Cruz ( #14), and Grilli (#27) each earn a hold.

SAVE: Hanrahan gets save # 34!

Honorable Mention: Pedro was the only Buc with 2 hits, with a single and double. Unfortunately that did not help us with any scoring, but Pedro is finally looking a little better. McHenry did not look real good at the plate and made a bit of a baserunning gaffe not moving to third when GJ was caught in a rundown, but he did make a huge throw to 3b in a ball thrown in the dirt, to nail Craig who was tryinig to advance with just one out. Cruz got just one out, but a big one it was with the tying run at 3rd. He gets and HM. Grilli also earn an HM for working a scoreless 8th in a one-run game, striking out two. Hanrahan also gets an HM for getting a "tough" save, with every battter representing the tying run!

STAR #3: Travis Snider went 1-3 plus a walk. He scored the first of two Pirate runs, on a wild pitch.

STAR #2: Cutch went 1-2 plus 2 walks. He scored one of the two Pirate runs, the winning run actually, on a passed ball.

STAR #1: I am giving it to JMac. We absolutely NEEDED a game like this tonight from anybody, but ESPECIALLY him. Hecompletely led the way and was the man most responsible for this great Bucco win!
