I don't understand why the Dodgers continue to bat AJ Ellis 8th in the order. He gets on base better than anyone on the team not named Matt Kemp. Why isn't he leading off?

Very important to win Game 1. Take some pressure off of us.

So why is Kemp listed as a CD? ;)

Minor note WRT later this week: Hurdle has flipped Burnett and McDonald the next time through the rotation. A.J. will now pitch the series finale vs. the Dodgers on Thursday, and J-Mac will start things off against the Cards at Busch on Friday.

Interesting.
If I was in charge of the rotation, I'm not sure that I would've gone that route. Hurdle/Searage must see something in the match-ups to suggest that MickieD will fare better against the Cardinals.

Amen.

If I'm Hurdle, I'm reminding my players that the Dodgers NEED these games. They are the ones doing the chasing. Their remaining schedule is a killer when compared to the other contenders. If they lose 3 of 4 to a team that they are chasing, they are only digging a deeper hole. They are the on the road, far away from the confines of Chavez Ravine. They are the ones who should be tight and the Bucs should be playing loose and playing confidently - in front of the home folks.

Go out and get it done. Now.

Hey, a first inning without giving up runs. Cool.

There's something I just can't figure out. I hate Victorino. Just seems like he terrozies the Pirates. They said he had 3 rbi's since joining the Dodgers at the deadline. He has 3 in this game. Should've traded the farm for Headley and Victorino. They love PNC park.

Hit the weightroom Cutch!

On another note, sucks that Headley & Victorino come up huge against us.

The problem is we made our surge on the timely hitting of 2 and 3-run homeruns. And we're just not that powerful a club. I, for one, got way way too caught up in the Zoltan hoopla. We just don't hit well enough and the pitching has been, well, exciting. And I mean that in the old Chinese-curse kind of way...

Has Sanchez contributed anything to the cause so far? If he has, I must have been away that day. He certainly is good at grounding into double plays, though.
