Double down on another productive offensive night.

Pads should just surrender to A.J.

AJ gives up a 1st inning HR to Chase Headley who had two HR's last night. 1-0 Padres.

1.) The Padres (with last night's win) have now won 10 in a row at PNC Park.

2.) Marquis seems to always give the Pirates fits.

Last night, the Pirates had to out-slug the Padres for a win. Sometimes those games have to happen (especially when the starting pitcher and the bullpen are not sharp for that game) but the Bucs left way too many men on base.

What kind of game will this one turn out to be?

I'll predict a low scoring game after the one last night. The Pirates must get one more run than the Padres for an important victory tonight.

Sigh. Another game, another first-inning home run for the other guys. This has grown really old.

I hope any who doubted Chase the Magnificent's power [outside Petco] have been taking notes the last two days...

It really seems to me that many of these Pirates (if they don't stand there a take strike three) get themselves out by putting BAD swings on balls chasing them down and or away outside the strike zone.

Very frustrating to watch bad plate discipline.

I guess I could have predicted this one. At least I did to myself. I don't like how this game is shaping up. Another bummer evening???????????

OK, down 2-0, Burnett doesn't look as sharp as he did his past two starts, and nobody has a hit yet. Plus, Cincinnati has won again and Atlanta is winning big.

Someone needs to step up and assume some leadership for the Bucs before this game gets away, too.

Time for McCutchen to snap out of it and be the superstar he is. This team needs a shot of excitement....

I'm ready to turn this shit off. I seriously can't believe how bad the Pirates are right now.

Perhaps I should have worded the above differently. Burnett clearly isn't sharp tonight. Bucs now are down 3-zip, and none of them has a hit yet. This is officially becoming a cause for concern.

Hmmm, no hits through 4 now. Fellows, let's go here.

These are some horrible at bats. Horrible. Against Jason Marquis and his blistering 88 mph fastball.

On the other hand.... Burnett, through 5 innings has 10 strikeouts, striking out everyone in the lineup except Carlos Quentin. That's worth waiting another inning or two to find out if he does that.

I say stuff flippantly quite a bit, but I seriously can't take much more of this game.

No hits, five runs allowed and we're still in the top of the 6th. I would say it is already ugly.

And we're robbed of the chance to see if AJ can get Quentin....
