Forget about a retaliation bean.

It's possible that the Reds did it to 'get into the Pirates head' and 'get them off their game'. Retaliating might accomplish just that---making it more about some dumb personal rivalry than about winning ballgames.

Just beat their brains out tomorrow.

I'm sorry, but you're just wrong. Somebody has to go down for that one, or you might as well fold up your tent and forfeit the rest of your games.

Truth. Its an absolute must for someone to stand up for Cutch, it doesn't have to be early, but it has to happen.

What was the point to throwing at Cutch? I'm just confused.

And that's the entire point.

Intimidation.

You got me last time, I own you now. - Chapman's internal monologue.

Rule Britannia! Independence didn't come until 1947

We could have Rinku Singh drive over to Cincy from Charleston, WV.

I get the joke, even got a laugh out of it, but in all seriousness, this kid can sure speak English well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AWxoOonCIc <-- A news story from KDKA with an interview with Singh. I didn't know he could speak that well.

I thnk the point was that he won that contest as the hardest thrower, not because he doesn't speak English well.

I think I tend to agree with NSMaster. Beat them the next two. That would be the best way to show them!

Also, does anybody want to give any defense to Chapman? Is he not allowed to pitch inside to a tough hitter? THoughts?

There is no doubt in my mind that it was deliberate. I don't mind a guy pitching inside. I don't even mind moving a guy off the plate. But you cannot throw at a guys head, and that's exactly what Chapman did, at 101 mph. You can't let that go. There must be retaliation. If somebody doesn't get knocked down you're digging McCutchen's grave.

EL MIRA!

Giddyup, ba-doom, ba-da-boom, bubba-mama..

Carry on!

I'm ashamed that I remember enough to correct this, but it was "oom-papa mau-mau".

I understand the machismo desire to retaliate, but I'd rather win the game.

Put up some runs and get up on the Reds at GABP, flash some Zoltan signs... isn't that as much of a message as 'standing up for our guy'?

Obviously, I'd rather see both, but... if I have to choose one, I'd rather win.

It sends a 'better message' to me. Something along the lines of, you can bean us, but you can't beat us.
