I friggin' love Steve Blass. He was mid-sentence when they cut to a female shaking her money maker's. He paused a second, said "I'm distracted" and proceeded to continue on his story. Classic!

How many shots off the top of the wall can the Pirates have?!? Wow! Nice shot by Pedro.

Pedro goes OPPOSITE way for an RBI double (Just missed a dinger). The reason I bring this up is obvious. But as I was watching the 3-0 and 3-1 pitches, Vogelsong put the ball in the exact same spot, outside corner (struck out on the same pitch the previous at-bat). I am thinking if he goes opposite field, he can hit this out. He did exactly what he needed to do . A big step in his evolution. (By the way, Vogelsong has really great control. Too bad he got it four years later)

I love how the fans chant M-V-P every time Cutch comes to the plate. I think it's time for them to start chanting Cy Young every time James McDonald comes up.

J-Mac dealing today. On a side note, McKenry is calling a fantastic game. Really keeping hitters guessing with 4 different kinds of pitches. Let's finish this.

I agree that he is the Overachiever-type, but look at his numbers in the minors...he has always had power. His career OPS in the minors was over .800 and he had double digit HR's every full year in the minors (including 22 one year).

On a side note, when did Pedro start using the "Stargell Wheel" in his plate approach? Must be new. I think it a great timing mechanism, though.

Animal is going to have to give Barmes some love today. Back-to-back beautiful plays. Beautiful.

Nice W. Back to 10 over. This is fun.

What? I didn't know we played a day game today. >__<
Congrats, Buccos!!

Seriously I think we have to win it all this year. I'm not convinced that we will have the pitching in the coming years. We'll never assemble the talent of the '79 or '89-91 teams. I've been say-
ing for a few years that 2012 will be the year of the Pirates and Lions.

Oh.. and I like Steve Blass but he and Bob Walk sound EXACTLY alike to me. I can not tell their voices apart. Greg Brown is so bad.. can not stand him at all. And I liked him during the one year
that I subscribed to radio broadcasts (on that Howard Stern channel.. can't think of the name.) I listened to all 162 games the year we had Matt Lawton. -_-

Grilli gets his 21st hold, which leads the NL by 4. He did it in style too, with the 3 power K's!!! What an absolutely amazing pick up he has been.

This win guaranteed the Bucs will at least share a lead of the Central heading into the ASB. Meaning that when they resume play July 13th that they will have been in first for 10 days.

To quote Keanue Reeves: Whoa.

If I could replace Barmes with Harrison I'd love the lineup too.

Go Buccos!

I may need to pony up and get something where I can see and hear the games. With my antiquated cable system and the fact that my condo association pays for cable, I don't think I can get the MLB package. Yesterday and today are the only two times in my 8+ years of living in Florida that I have gone to a sports bar with the specific intent of watching the Pirates. Over that period, I can only think of one other time that I was at a sports bar and requested that they put the game on...and that was three weeks ago versus Cleveland (when I asked for the Pirates game, the waitress asked me if I was serious), however, there have been other times where I have been at bars and the game has been on and I have watched. I'd love to see the Bucs in person this season, but the rest of my summer schedule probably won't permit travel to the 'Burgh and the team has already played in Miami and Atlanta (both within long driving distance). Should our dreams come true and the Bucs are playing meaningful baseball in October, I will be looking to redeem some frequent flier miles for trips to Pittsburgh.

Go Bucs!
