Neil Walker have a scheduled day off? Because I love Josh Harrison, but I don't want to bench Skywalker for him...

20 games in 20 days. Got to get one somewhere. Harrison absolutely owned Verlander last game (sarcasm intended), so he has to be in the lineup.

I'd rather have an extra left bat and a better 2nd baseman against Verlander...

Excellent points both, but I really think Walker needed a day off...but on the other hand, as a paying fan, (and I am not one today, but many are), I prefer to see the better players and certainly home town favorites play in front of the home fans.

DK tweeted that today will be one of the biggest Sunday crowds in PNC history.

That didn't take long. Ugh. 2 runs before an out is made. That was Berry's first career HR. As much as Lincoln stepped up in a pressure situation yesterday it looks like Correia is struggling early.

Harrison has looked awful in his first 2 ABs today

After he swung at the slider that barely reached the catcher, I understood why he was bunting his first at-bat despite the team trailing 2-0.

What happened to the days when the stars played all 162 games? Why did we need a shift from that?

Not many players ever played every game.

Lou Gehrig and Cal Ripken are famous for their durability for a reason.

I could see Walker coming in and replacing Harrison if he has another poor at bat.

They played every game except when injured or sick. I don't remember hearing about scheduled days off too much for the teams best players back in the day...I could be wrong though.

Okay, let's look at some players "back in the day":

Henry Aaron - between 1964 and 1972, during his prime, he played 1333 games in 9 seasons, an average of 148 per year, not 162.

Willie Stargell - between 1965 and 1975 in his prime (11 seasons), he played a total of 1518 games, an average of 138 per season.

Willie Mays - between 1962 and 1968 (7 seasons) during his prime, he played 1074 games, an average of 153 per season.

I just pulled some names from random, and avoided Mantle (lot of injuries). I suspect that your recollection of star players playing 160 games per season is inaccurate.

Hey, you may be right man, that's why I said "I may be wrong"...

I just remember collecting baseball cards that there were many players that that had the " * " beside the 162 in "italics", meaning they were tied for most games played that year.

To his credit Correia rebounded from a bad first two batters and had a quality start.

Agreed. He threw a solid game. The HR is his bugaboo. He just cannot seem to avoid giving up a bomb.

Twins beat the reds. Pirates can tie for first with a win today.
