Double by Kratz. Smashed it to left center. Two runs score. Then heads up base running by Kratz after the relay throw got away. Man on third, zero outs.

You guys are my eyes and ears. Only other thing I have is the mlb box score which is spotty at best with its updates.

Apparently Church grounded in Kratz during the commercial break ...

3-3 game.

Pearce strikes out to end the inning but it's a tied game.

Someone more informative, inform me ... does Jack Taschner have a chance to pitch for the Pirates this year?

If he pitches like that he does. He is 32, but he has two other things going for him. He is a lefty and he has over 200 appearance in the big leagues. I would say he could actually pitch himself onto the team during spring training.

It was a sharply hit bloop between first and second ... the Yankees 2B made a diving effort and nearly came up with it. Give him credit for started the rally though, since Young was hit by a pitch.

The double by Kratz was well hit but carried thanks to the wind ... nice base-running to advance to third, as BB pointed out.

Meanwhile, Pedro Alvarez quickly goes down on strikes.

Héctor Giménez pinch hit for Kratz but they go down in order.

Virgil Vasquez will pitch the 9th to try to keep it tied.

Virgil has no chance to stick with the big league team this year. Too much competition. First and second. Zero outs. Two singles off Vazquez.

And Virgil . . . fails.

Three-run walk-off home run by some guy I never heard off. Bye bye Virgil.

The only sad part is that the HR will make the score look like a lot worse than it was ...

Sounds like they might have agreed to call it a tie had it ended 3-3.

The Good: The pitching except for Jackson and Virgil. Clement's defense at first.
The bad: The hitting, Diaz at SS
The ugly: Virgil Vazquez

Good to see baseball again.

and Jackson didn't help his chances earlier either...

Other than pretty solid pitching.

What was up with the Pirates acting like Vasquez was Cy Young or something last year? He never looked good to me, nor were his numbers ever any good.

Hopefully we won't see him in Pittsburgh this year. He may not even make the Indy roster.
