Pearce gets rewarded for a good night by getting a chance to ride some pine. Good move, JR.

Pirates' lineup:

1. McCutchen, CF
2. Milledge, LF
3. Jones, 1B
4. Doumit, C
5. Young, 2B
6. LaRoche, 3B
7. Moss, RF
8. Cedeno, SS
9. Vasquez, P

Nationals' lineup:

1. Morgan, CF
2. Guzman, SS
3. Zimmerman, 3B
4. Dunn, 1B
5. Harris, LF
6. Dukes, RF
7. Bard, C
8. Gonzalez, 2B
9. Stammen, P

What a move. Moss doesn't need to be in the lineup right now.

It might be that Pearce and Moss will be juggled around to see who makes the most of their AB's to secure a starting job. If it's Pearce, then Jones plays RF and Pearce plays 1B and if it's Moss, then Jones plays 1B and Moss plays RF.

I bet that is what is happening, i just don't agree with JR's timing of it. Why take a player out when they are hot? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

The only positives about it is, Moss went 2 for 4 against him with a run scored and a double and Andy went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI...

Well if i was Pete Rose i would put my money on the Nats tonight with Vasquez on the mound for us. I was hoping somebody else would get called up for this start tonight. I just hope Stammen.
This pitching match up might not be who pitches the best tonight, but who doesn't blow it for their team.

With Virgil its a possibility of a high scoring game...I think a few little leaguers could hit off the Nationals bullpen...

Though, Virgil might go out in a blaze of glory as he is the odd man out with Hart lingering around...

I'm hoping to see most of the game before heading out. One good thing is after tonight we won't have those Joe Dee Macina (sp) ads anymore. :)

I think you would have to take the Bucs to have a chance of a nice payoff since I think the odds would favor the Nats with VV pitching.

Wow i didn't look close enough at the Nats line up at first tonight. I didn't see Dukes got called up. So Animal's two favorite players are playing tonight, those being Lastings Milledge and Elijah Dukes.

As I noted in yesterday's game report...Milledge's defense is pretty shaky...

Animal wont be with us for the game thread tonight because he is on stand by incase the Pittsburgh police need backup from Westmoreland county. You never know what you happen.

2-0. VV is off to his usual start. I could do better than this. This makes me mad that players like Virgil Vasquez even have a job.

I wouldn't worry about the job too much longer. ;)

I wonder if Virgil's suitcase is already packed? Cuz I know Neal already has his ticket for a one way flight to Indy
