Pirates' lineup:

1. McCutchen, CF
2. Sanchez, 2B
3. Young, LF
4. Hinske, RF
5. Andy LaRoche, 3B
6. Pearce, 1B
7. Diaz, C
8. Wilson, SS
9. Maholm, P

Rockies' lineup:

1. Fowler, CF
2. Barmes, 2B
3. Spilborghs, LF
4. Hawpe, RF
5. Tulowitzki, SS
6. Atkins, 1B
7. Stewart, 3B
8. Phillips, C
9. De La Rosa, P

The good: Pearce is our starting 1B!

The bad: One night after finally putting good wood on the ball, Moss and Morgan sit. Moral of the story...if you want playing time for the Pirates, go into a slump. If you want to take a day off...have a good game, you'll get the next day off too cool down. Unreal.

I agree with you there. How can the two guys who had the hottest night, be benched the next day?? Idiotic.

When you have a lefty who throws some heat and a high number of K's for the season could be a good reason to rest left handed hitters Morgan and Moss

I can certainly understand that point...but to me, after a three hit night, a guy would be starting no matter WHO the starting pitcher is!

Lately Moss has been sitting when a lefty is on the mound, so nothing there is new...

I'd rather have Young out there today than Morgan against a lefty...though I'd take that choice everyday...

Because they are platoon hitters, and the pitcher is a lefty.

Are you suppose to be the Pirate starting pitcher "ACE"?? :?

By the way , why isn't Freddy wearing sunglasses????? :?

Memo to the Pirate offense:

You'll need more than 7 runs to win this game. :?

Why wouldn't Morgan pinch hit in the 9th? You can do wonders with his speed. I'm getting very, very angry. The Pirates have really blown this entire series.

The Rockies bullpen put us down from the 6th inning on.
The top of our line up continues to hit well.
Pirates fall to 31-38 and after the Astros win we fall 2 games out of 5th place.
Rockies raise up to 36-33 and they have won 14 out of their last 15. I bet they wish they could play us again instead of playing the Angels.

Now we play the Indians at home. Somehow i think neither team is going to win. They are both going to get lost or something and not make it to the park.

I turned this game off. I was watching on DVR after father's day festivities but I turned it off.

I was excited after last weekend w/ Detroit but I think it's clear that we have tanked at this point.

Here is what I take from this game:

1. Delwyn Young should never ever play in the field again. He may be the worst defender in baseball and is totally clueless in the field.
2. Paul Maholm (who I like as a fan) is at best a #3 starter on a good team. He just isn't a top of the rotation guy.
3. Eric Hinskie can't perform w/ the Pirates. He is a) either not a major leaguer or b) he doesn't want to be a part of the Pirates. I think it's the latter but he should be sent down, traded, or cut. This is surprising to me given his performance in Boston which was totally different.
4. A team that was serious about trying to win today's game would have played Morgan, Moss, and Adam. For whatever reason a decision was made not to compete today. That frustrates me to no end.
5. The jury is out on Pearce but my bet is that is not an every day player.

I'm not a Nutting basher, and definitely not a conspiracy theorist I just think the simple truth is that we are bad. We are bad and Mgmt has decided to throw in the towel on this year. Nothing else explains that lineup today. Maybe it's for the better but I'm frustrated because today's game was over before it started.

I'm glad I got that off my chest :)
