#Hurdled.

Why bunt a .290 (heck even a .260+) hitter with no outs, when the guy coming up behind him is worse. Terrible way to play those numbers.

Ye olde 'play for one run...' maxim may have applied there, too.

Despite his claim to 'not care about pitch count', the decision to lift Liriano was also a tad odd since he could have tossed the 7th and barely cracked 100 (also, if the Bucs did tie it would have been nice to spare an inning of the pen by letting Liriano go 7).

On one hand it's fair to trust the bullpen, but maybe---just maybe---Hurdle was overcompensating for the Cumpton sub-too late the other night?

*shrugs*

Another umpire that sucks. Imagine that. This game should be in the bottom of the 8th. Hopefully, the Pirates can make a mockery of Bud Selig's boys.

How many times do we have to watch sanchaz look at strike 3 with men in scoring position?

For the love of God, the Reds leadoff batter damn well better take one in the rib cage tomorrow or I'll be pissed.

I agree. This is getting ridiculous! The pirates aren't the only team the reds have done this too. MLB needs to step in. Suspend baker or whomever. If walker had gotten hit in the head, he could have gotten killed. If I were walker I would have charged the mound. Reds are a dirty team. Bucs need to get some nads and standup to this bullshit. If hurdle had any balls he would go after baker.

It might not be that soon but at some point I would be very surprised if there is a lack of retribution..... ;) ;) ;)

Just got in from the game.

What can you say, doomed by solo HRs in Great American Smallpark. Been one of my pet peeves ever since the stadium was built at the beginning of the decade. That and for how new it is a pretty mediocre to subpar ballpark itself, but that's another story. Liriano obviously deserved better, the Pirates had chances but the GIDPs ultimately killed them. I was actually surprised that McCutchen scored on Martin's double, fully expected it to be cut off and be a play at the plate where the ball was hit. Annoyingly, I didn't even get to see Marte's catch since I was sitting down the third baseline and couldn't see after everyone jumped up to see it.

Yeah, Chapman is one of my least favorite players in the league. Not only because of the beanballs but the exhausting controversy around him living in Cincinnati as to whether he should start or stay in the bullpen role. If you think he's bad on TV, try being at the game last year when he hit McCutchen with the upper 90s pitch with two outs in the ninth and then obviously throwing at Walker's head tonight. And then elsewhere there was the throwing over Nick Swisher's head twice in a row earlier this year. Baker's infuriating dismissal of it is obviously just as bad, but it's really no surprise coming from him.

Given that I'm not a believer in Morton, tomorrow's Latos vs. Morton match-up could be a long one but I'll be there again. Morton does have a lot of success against the Reds and at the very least should keep the ball in the stadium, though.

(view from seats pic, I'm not in it)
