Bases loaded and can't get the ball out of the infield...so he does it himself. Mr. Cole who flashed the Z. Sounds like he is a fast learner. 8-)

San Francisco announcer's tone and lack of enthusiasm for Cole's debut has been amusing. There have been quite a few "he's just like any other player" quips. Started saying early how he is a one-dimensional pitcher (this was somewhat warranted with all of the fastballs he was throwing), before he just retired the Giants side on about 6 pitches just now in the fourth they recapped his highlights so far and when they showed Cole's family going crazy after the RBI hit, they lackadaisically mention "well, it's a big day for him. It's a big day for any player who makes it to the majors" and "it's always a good thing at least to make it to the majors". Maybe it's just the fact that the tone of their voices are generally very laid back but it does seem to me they are a bit defensive to credit him since he isn't racking up Ks.

I want to line up the offense and three-stooges slap the lot of them.

But for Cole, this is a 0-0 game. The hitting is terrible.

5 hits through 4 innings against Lincecum (regardless of his recent struggles) isn't what I consider "terrible."

Yeah, it was the horrid bottom of the line-up up with Barmes and the pitcher when they loaded the bases and luckily Cole came through.

Wasting McCutchen's lead-off double was disappointing, especially Jones atrocious K where he should have been rung up twice on check swings but got lucky on the appeals and then thought he drew a walk on a pitch down the middle.

It's June. El Toro might be waking up slightly again. Squared some pitches up in Chicago, numbers point to a progression. Here's hoping.

SICK slider by Cole there. He's pounding the strike zone but got the K when he strayed outside slightly.

I just said he is already the best hitting pitcher on the team by a WIDE margin!

For tonight at least, all was worthy of the hype.

AJ can mentor him on the art of pitching and Cole can show him how to lay down a bunt without using his face.
