Inge in, Alvarez out. Twitter saying Alvarez scratched due to the wisdom teeth again.

Alvarez had them pulled yesterday...He's probably still in some pain. Now he's going to hit 50 homeruns.

I've never had my wisdom teeth pulled but I can't imagine it would keep me from playing baseball a day and a half later, right?

Well, it's not "pulled" in the sense of being yanked out like with a regular tooth. It's a full surgery. Some people get pretty bad. I was fortunate and just had some bleeding/tenderness where the stitches were but some get really swollen up and sore. No idea how Pedro reacted.

At the very least, he probably is on some pain meds which would probably make playing difficult.

Yeah it depends on the person. Some wisdom teeth removal requires digging/drilling into the jawbone. Some people are bleeders. And you can't eat hard/solid foods for like 24-36 hours after the surgery.

It can be a two-to-three day thing.

Reds hitting balls to the warning track and wall......too close for comfort.

When I had mine pulled I couldn't comfortably close my mouth for a week or so. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't exactly pleasant either. I can't imagine putting a batting helmet on would help the situation but I'm not a professional athlete either.

I typically don't question Hurdle's decisions, especially after the article about the technology they have at their disposal to determine matchups....but I really wish he'd protect guys. Make Dusty pay for calling something, or, make him him think twice about doing it again because it'll lead to his pitcher or 1B getting buzzed.

Man the bucco pitchers have to be perfect. Wandy in 6 has given up a couple dingers but all in all a pretty good start. What has to start is this offense. Run support for the starters has to pick up. Way to much pressure.

Short through the zone boys....c'mon.

I know I've said this before, but I loathe the bunt in Marte's repertoire. Always feels like he's a) giving up a strike or b) getting down a poor bunt that gets him thrown out.

For a guy who already has strikeout issues, I don't understand why he shows bunt and pulls back as much as he does.

I'm typically of the opinion of letting "revenge" come in the form of focusing on just winning the game when questionable HBPs happen, but this Reds team has finally made me change that position as far as series go with them. Mainly because of Aroldis Chapman, who you'll recall beamed McCutchen last year with I believe 2 outs in the 9th. Then last week as I'm sure you saw, Chapman threw back-to-back pitches over the head of Nick Swisher in the rivalry series against the Indians. In that case I agree with the little tirade the Cleveland announcer went on ... only fair to see how Chapman likes having a 99mph fastball thrown at his face. And just as bad was Baker's comments on it, saying how it's waste of time to address it, etc.

Cueto is throwing strikes (nearly 3:1) and the Bucs seem to know it, they just can't do anything with them.

Reds are becoming baseballs version of the detroit pistons of the late 80s. When will baseball crackdown on a guy like chapman for his headhunting?

And sooner or later bucs offense is going to have to start showing up. You can't expect your pitching staff to bail you out all the time.

Reds- bucs could be there pens/flyers or steelers/ravens rivalry.

Not a bad way to look at it. I just see what happened with Cleveland, what happened with Chicago (did you hear about the Cueto-Baker exchange with Garza after he threw over a Cubs player's head?), and what happened last year and feel like there needs to be retribution at some point.

Dusty is an incredibly poor manager. Don't let him gain even an inch by throwing at your best guys and knowing nothing will happen.
