This is one of the oddest games of the year.

When Kratz came to the plate, I checked in on the Sabres, and watched 4 or 5 minutes of actual game play. Came back, and it was a 2-2 count on Kratz. had to be what, 8 minutes?

AJ done after 5 today. Didn't have his good stuff, but still battled. Let's see if we can find a way to win this one.

Hey, my wife got Sirius XM (whatever it's called.) I am listening to the Pirates broadcast. Tim Neveritt (Everett? What's his name?) is OK. I thought I would hate
his voice (sounds too much like Skip Carey, but Tim's voice is OK.)

Sunday Greg and Steve did the broadcast. Who is with Tim tonight? Is it Wehner? I haven't heard his voice in eight years so I'm not sure who's who. What's the
deal.. do they take turns doing innings or what?

Wehner and Brown are on TV, so I am guessing that is Bob Walk you hear with Neveritt!

Walks will come to haunt you. Walking pitchers. Weak hitting catchers. Nuts.

I really can't understand what McDonald is doing batting in the 8th. Can someone explain this to me?

An explanation for doing a double switch that means McDonald leads off the inning, you ask? I present to you the same explanation for McDonald being on the roster ...

Real bad loss tonight. Ace on the mound against someone who is making a spot start and couldn't get anyone out in Class AAA. Now we get to face Halladay and Lee. Great!

There were worse missed opportunities than Alvarez (who went 2-4 w/ a HR) striking out against a tough closer ... like Marte being stranded after doubling to start the game, Barmes stranded at second with one out in the 5th, Alvarez stranded after hitting a single to lead off the seventh.

Tough loss given how the runs were given up, but not a game to really feel badly about either.

The shame is Marte shouldn't have been stranded in 1st if not for that horrible 3rd strike call on Andrew. Jones would have knocked Marte in

Really, yesterdays game came down to our pitching staff. Way to many free passes were handed out. I know two of Philadelphia's 3 runs came via a walk. A pitcher and a backup catcher. Can't have that in a game where runs are a premium .

Goes back to that old baseball saying that you hear told to pitchers from the ground up. Make them swing the bat.

Pedro, for instance had a solid game yesterday. 2 for 4 at the dish with a run driven in. Yet its on him for striking out against one of the best closers in the game.

It was a double switch to allow Mazzaro to go two innings, since his spot was up next in the order. But I'd almost rather have him hit than McDonald.
