Pirates' hitters are cheating on the fastball and Jeff took advantage by getting Alvarez and Sanchez flailing at his slider. Good work by him.

Well, at least Barmes knew enough not to hit into a double play with the pitcher up next. Nice job, Clint!

Non-baseball fans have to hate this game. Almost an hour in and only two innings in the books. Very...slow...moving.

When Samardzija's throwing that slider for strikes, he is TOUGH. He's mowin' 'em down now.

Great job, AJ. 2nd and 3rd, nobody out and he Ks two and gets a groundout to get out of it. Veteran pitching, there.

Excellent job by Burnett getting out of that jam.

And he's up to 9 Ks, by the way.

It helped that he faced Valbuena, Lillibridge, and Samardzija. I doubt he gets out unscathed if he was facing Castro, Rizzo, and Soriano. Still, good work.

Nine strikeouts... but also 75 pitches through 4 innings. He won't see the seventh inning today.

You could say this about literally any pitcher facing literally any team's 7-8-9 hitters compared to their 2-3-4 when in a jam. What's the point.

It's been quiet. Third base ump wanted to make sure he got his TV time.

That's a REALLY bad 7-8-9. Maybe worse than the Pirates'.

Computerized strike zones or umpires...

Let this guy call balls and strikes.
