There have been an insane amount of tornadoes around here lately. I looked at a few on You Tube and this one was insane. I love thunderstorms and I love the rush of bad weather but I hate some of the devastation that occurs.

Wow. Thanks for posting that, IA.

Hope tornado season misses you and your neighbors completely.

In July '71, my wife and I were driving from East Lansing, Mich., to Victoria, B.C., when we could see one approaching. The sky turned green and then black, and the air became completely still. Southwestern Michigan is fairly open and flat, and the only protection was a highway overpass, so we waited it out there. The tornado must have been at least a mile away, but the hail alone associated with it was incredible. We were away for three weeks and never found out how much damage was done, so it might not have been particularly bad. But it was still an unforgettable experience.

I feel for people caught in tornadoes where escape isn't possible; the power of nature is awesome.

A couple of years ago we went back to my hometown in Missouri. On our way to a nature preserve in western MO we saw a barn that was completely destroyed by a tornado the night before. Saw lots of other damage. The year before the main street of one small town (Pierce City, MO) was hit by a big one. Several historic buildings were destroyed. I grew up in the Ozark hills but the land is flat as you go further west. Someday I want to see some wild prairie chickens out there in the plains.

Omaha is really under the gun tonight. I live in West Omaha and they are saying two tornadic cells are getting ready to collide (around 9:30 cst). Things are getting dicey...

Update...

On Sunday morning a tornado touched down at 204th and Q here in Omaha. My house is at 192nd and Q. This is getting to be a little ridiculous. More storms are expected tonight...

Hope you will remain safe, IA! We don't want to lose the biggest Bucs fan in all of Nebraska!

Q is the name of a street?

Yeah, Q is the name of the street. The sirens are going off right now. My fiance is a TV anchor here in town and she just got word that a tornado went through about 20 minutes from here (on the Iowa side) and hit a boy scout camp. There were apparently over 100 scouts and it went right through them. Already 4 confirmed deaths. I'm actually very happy the cable and internet is still working.
