Anybody have a Kentucky Derby pick?

Right now I'm leaning towards Pyro or Colonel John, but I've only taken a quick look at the field, which may be the worst Kentucky Derby field I've ever seen.

I'm leaning towards getting hammered and not losing money. Anyone else? :D

Those tend to be mutually exclusive events for me.

When it comes to losing money though, I'd rather it be on fast women than slow horses. Don't tell Mrs. BBF...

My pick is Z Fortune. Don't bet on it though, I haven't picked one right my entire life.

I agree 100% with the sports writer of the New York Times. Animal cruelty..

I don't expect the sport to be abolished but it's time we as humans rethink the ways these animals are bred. I'm a hippie, boys.

I don't buy the animal cruelty thing, but I agree that the way these horses are bred is asinine. Between breeding for speed over durability, the use of legal and illegal drugs, and the way that many of the best potential sires in the U.S. are bought by Japanese or Arabian interests I believe that the quality of American thoroughbreds is declining.

On the funny side, I heard a joke somewhere that the Derby is Nascar for rich people...

but on a serious side, breeding these horses so much to be fast and all that you're getting similiar genes and sometimes in the end cross-breeding a few generations down the line 2 horses from the same family, the more fragile their immune systems are, just like show dogs their genes are so crossbred, they get diseases and have other effects...

I am not a fan of the Derby, I wont say its animal cruelty because these horses are bred for this, just like cattle are bred to butcher and make into hamburger...
