Auction drafts are challenging. Somehow, I wound up with 7 starting pitchers and no batters as reserves.

And my hopes for the 2012 season depend on Jose Reyes and Rafael Furcal both remaining healthy.

Hey, it's happened before ... in 2008, most recently.

The NL thing is what makes it harder. Problem with bullpen guys is that they only get one stat although a guy like Tyler Clippard can get you 100 Ks. Also, the pitchers have limits so eventually you will have to dump one or two.

The relievers can help with ERA and WHIP, particularly a guy who puts up enough innings to make a dent on the totals.

I look at it this way. My three "holds" guys - Clippard, O'Flaherty and Salas - will probably combine for about 240 innings (with Clippard getting about 100). That is as much as a top-end SP'er.

If they combine to win 15 games, fan 240 batters, and post a 2.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP - very possible given what they did last year - then it is like adding a top-flight, number 1 SP'er who performs like Cliff Lee.
