This kind of died out the last couple years so maybe with some new blood on the board, we can get it back going again. No prize. Just pride for the winner.

-Name the 25-man opening day roster (1 point for each correct player, DL players do not count)

-Name the opening day starting lineup (1 point for each correct player, 1 point for each correct lineup position)

Deadline is first day of spring training. You can change your answer up until then.

Good Luck!

You mean Disabled List and not Dave Littefield, right?

If Matt Clement is on our infield, we've truly hit rock bottom. ;)

Goodbye Brandon Moss. I will not miss you...ever. Maybe if Ascanio is healthy he can make it. We may need a starter type like Hart more likely though (i'll take a gamble).

*Note that this is what I think the 25 man roster SHOULD be. I highly suspect that they won't have the huevos to eat Ramon Vazquez's salary, in which case either Raynor or Delwyn is the odd man out.

urbanexplorer, Ascanio is hurt and won't be pitching until mid summer. You can still change your entry, and thank me when you win the contest.

Not too imaginitive, but they have a track record of waiting things out and seeing what they have in place first.

The DUTCH Magnificent 25

i guess the catchers are almost identical if not completely identical by everybody.. so i blow in a surprise.. here we go...

OUTFIELDERS

Andrew McCutchen
Lastings Milledge
Garrett Jones
Ryan Church
Jonathan Van Avery

Seems a lock barring injury or a terrible spring...

Infielders
Jeff Clement (1B)
Ronny Cedeno (SS)
Akinori Iwamura (2B)
Andy LaRoche (3B)
Bobby Crosby

If Clement looks awful at 1B in spring training then I'll go with a last chance for Pearce starting at 1B until he gets a little more experience at the position. Or maybe Pearce at RF and Jones at 1B.

I also think there's a good chance of the Pirates giving Vazquez one more shot (though they shouldn't)

Utility
Delwyn Young

Outfielders
Andrew McCutchen (CF)
Garrett Jones (RF)
Lastings Milledge (LF)
Ryan Church
Brandon Moss

Moss is clearly no lock but the organisation have shown a lot of patience with him so I'll guess he's not gone yet

Starting Pitchers
Zach Duke
Paul Maholm
Ross Ohlendorf
Charlie Morton
Daniel McCutchen

Relief Pitchers
Octavio Dotel (Closer)
Evan Meek
Joel Hanrahan
Brendan Donnelly
D.J. Carrasco
Javy Lopez
Kevin Hart (if he wins the 5th starter job, which is obviously a close call) then I'm guessing a last chance for Karstens here)

Opening Day Starting Lineup
McCutchen CF
Iwamura 2B
Jones RF
Doumit C
Milledge LF
Clement 1B
LaRoche 3B
Cedeno SS
Duke P

SP: Ohlendorf, Maholm, Duke, Morton, McCutchen
RP: Dotel, Hanrahan, Meek, Lopez, Donnelly, Hart, Jakubauskus(I think they may go out and look for another lefty this spring but I don't know who and that would take Jakubauskus off)

Lineup
1. McCutchen
2. Iwamura
3. Jones
4. Doumit
5. Milledge
6. LaRoche
7. Clement
8. Cedeno
9. Ohlendorf

I just can't see them completely ditching Moss so I kept him and dropped Young. I think they will try to trade him this spring. Although he is valuable as a utility guy. I guess what I'm saying is I'm most likely off with my picks!!!
