Yes I was there. Mrs. AZBF and No. 1 and I must say it was a pleasant evening. Duke was good enough though not great. D Backs just really kind of suck. I was talking to my buddy from work who is the official scorer and he said that when Chris Young comes up with 2 outs, a writer will do the end of the inning announcement like a play by play guy. Classic. Young's nickname is Pop Up.

Garrett Jones hit the ball on the nose every at bat. Amazing. I have bashed Pearce's D in the past but he made some nice plays tonight. And, Delwyn didn't do a bad job at 2B either. Moss had a couple nice strokes. But then again, who didn't tonight. It was pretty funny when Hanrahan came in. Russell signaled for a righty and Chavez came running in, only to be sent back halfway to the mound.

There has been a surprisingly large number of Bucs fans at the games the last two nights. considerably more than in the past. Couldn't tell you why.

Back tomorrow. It is a 510 start, 810 eastern. I have 2 extra tickets, anyone want to go along? Let me know, they are free and the light rail will let us off a block from the big airplane hanger.

Asta manana.

Jones continues to pound the ball, and Doumit hit a couple right on the screws. Best news of all, I thought - Andy Laroche had two base hits he hit on the nose and drew a walk.

His minor league hitting was highlighted by incredible strike zone control, high number of walks, XBH, and high average. I get the feeling that when he reverts to the selective hitter he was in the minors, he is going to hit the ball harder, for more extra base hits, while drawing more walks.

The Pirates need him to hit like he is capable. If he hits .280/.360/.450, and fields his position like he has been doing the past several months, he is going to the third baseman for years to come.

The Bacon's in the larder.
Jones and Doumit hit the ball harder.
LaRoche is coming around.
Could his stroke be found?
Who'll be the next for the GM to barter?

(Okay, the stupid dog woke me up early and I am officially bored!)
