Despite giving up only 2 runs, Zito looked weak. I don't recall seeing anything faster than 85.

The Pirates helped him by chasing some pitches out of the zone, and by failing to hit some very hittable pitches. Plus the umpire helped him with a generous strike zone. To top it all off, we hit 2 line drives that went for double plays.

His future in baseball is not bright, although his financial outlook is excellent.

The main difference between him and Morris are an extra 5 years on his contract.

Yeah, he was helped by a very generous strike zone, and his curve is still one of the biggest in baseball, but there is no reason why we didn't crush him last night. He looked very, very hittable.

Billy Beane seems to have a knack of knowing when to let go of those players in Oakland...Giambi, Tejada, Hudson, Mulder, Zito...none of them have put up numbers like before...especially the pitching he's done a great job at dumping them or letting them go before their arms fall off...

I think Barry Zito is more proof that it isn't what you spend, it's how you spend it. The Giants are going to be hurting for years because of that deal.

They'd be hurting more if our prior GM wasn't an A$$!!!

Freaking Matt Morris

Are the Pirates the only major league team that hasn't gotten the scouting report on Zito? He throws a big, slow curve.

Honestly, do you think he was trying to get fired?

Just think how bad the Giants payroll situation would be if Littlefield had not taken $20 million off of the Giants' hands.

The Giants would have two guys this year (Morris, Zito) earning a combined $32 million and either not pitching or pitching horribly.
