We are playing .438 baseball now -- 57-73

32 games remain(16 at home, 16 away) -- we need 14 of them to equal the winning percentage of this season -- would make us 71-91 for the season.

Here's who we play:

August
H Cubs-3
H Mil-3

September
A Cin-3
A SF-3
A Hou-4
H StL-3
H LAD-4
H Hou-3
A Mil-3
A SD-3

My guess is that we win 13 more and end up 70-92.

At first, I thought this team had the potential of meeting the .500 mark or just below it, but now that this organization has sent probably the two best players we had at meeting that mark, almost has me losing faith in the organization. If we can finish 20 games under .500 then so be it. But, if we are going to go after so more offense and better pitching then we need to look at people like Jose Bastita and probably Jack Wilson as trade bait.
In the last 16 years, this team has all but become a laughing stock in all of baseball. Neal Huntington and the upper office people really need to find the missing links to this chain or else we can become the Tampa Bay Rays of this decade.

And how is Tampa Bay doing now? How did they turn the corner?

Tampa Bay Rays of this decade? You realize that they are currently the best team in the AL, and they currently lead a division that contains two organizations with the biggest salary budgets in the entire league? Do you also realize that, given the age of their core players, they will likely contend for many years after this season and into the next decade? Gosh, I'd love it if the Pirates became the Tampa Bay Rays of this decade. Ever since 2006, the Rays have been a shining example of how to run an organization.

It took years for Tampa to recover from the Jose Canseco, Wade Boggs, Fred McGriff, Dave Martinez, Bobby Witt, Wilson Alvarez team they fielded in the late 90's and early part of this decade...

Similar to our teams of Jeremy Burnitz, Pat Meares, Brant Brown, Kevin Elster team we've fielded in the same time period...too bad we're behind the curve since we just found some decent front office management to try to right the ship
