Two-hit shutout through 5 innings vs. first-place Trenton. 3 K's, 2 walks.

He was lifted after 5, so his night is complete. Gave up a double and a single and plunked one hitter.

Good for him. Pitch limit apparently brought about the exit after 5 innings.

The MILB web site has a nice feature on Henry in today's edition. I was going to post it in a separate thread, but this thread works plenty well enough. Here is the story link (and a picture):

Man, he's turned himself into our best pitching prospect. Great story.

Altoona wound up losing the game, 6-3. It was 2-0 good guys when Owens left the game, but the bullpen faltered badly.

Here is what is tough to believe about the game. Altoona had 15 hits, including 5 2B's, and 4 walks and managed to score only 3 runs.

How is that even possible??

Brian Bixler's veteran presence?

Bad baserunning?

Several triple plays?

The "let's put two guys on the same base" theory of base running?

Several hits that were in fact balls that struck base runners?

I don't know. But really tough to imagine getting 19 base runners, 15 hits (including 5 doubles), and just 3 runs.

Apparently one of the few times the age old "scattered 15 hits over 9 innings" had a real meaning? :)

As for Owens: Awesome. We really don't need any more pitching though....

Was at last night's Curve game. Curve hit into DP's twice with runners on first & third and one out. Curve also had some bad base running. Runner on first decides with one out to take off running on a fly ball to rightfield. Even the lady sitting beside me who left her seat four times to go have a cigarette knew that was a bonehead move. Lead off hitter gets on in third and attempts to steal second. Out by two feet. Next batter promptly rips next pitch into left field corner for a double.

Not a pitching scout by any stretch but here is what I saw from Owens - This was the first time I have seen him in person this year. He wasn't sharp early in the game. He walked two and had trouble finding strike zone in first three innings and had some balls hit hard right at defenders , but it was obvious he is a competitor. You could almost see his focus and intensity change as soon as someone got on base. Sitting watching game you would have thought Trenton had five or six hits off him in the first three innings, but he only gave up two hits in five innings. The fourth and fifth innings looked completely opposite of the first three. Hit 92 on gun a couple of times in fourth inning and was hitting 90 in the fifth. He was all over the strikezone and really had the Trenton hitters off balance those last two innings. Don't remember exact number, but his pitch count was somewhere around 65-70. I expected him to go maybe one more inning, but it is obvious the organization is really trying to limit his and Morris' innings.

I'm so excited about this guy. Wish we had two or three more like him... I was impressed with Morris the other night, but it looks like he still has some work to do in the minors.

I assume that was just an error confusing him with former juiced up reliever Henry Owens.
