If we should be thinking of trading for any players at this point i think there is only one person to look to.

Zach Jackson #47
Pitcher Milwaukee Brewers
Height: 6-5 Weight: 220
Bats: L Throws: L
Born: May 13, 1983 - Latrobe, PA
College: Texas A&M
Draft: 2004 - Supplemental round by the Toronto Blue Jays

He's from Latrobe , he wants out of Milwaukee , and he's a big left handed pitcher.
I really think we could give up maybe one or 2 two guys from Double A and he would be ours!

Huh? This kid is in his 3rd year at AAA. He has never had sparkling numbers. 123 K's last year is about the nicest thing I can say about him.

Further, it looks as if Milwaukee has given up on him as a starter and is using him as a reliever mainly this year. Also, his ERA is over 7 in AAA.

If "there is only one guy" we should look to get, this guy definitely is not it. In fact, I can't figure out what you like about him? The fact that he is from the area? Don Kelly is from Mt. Lebanon, lets bring him back.

I think Colin is more focused on the guy's stature than his ability to get players out. I'm certainly not impressed with Jackson, and if we were to ever get him, it will be on the waiver wire.

It more than likely will be from waivers.I wasn't saying to give something good up for him.Just one double A player or something like that.Like the deal for Denny Bautista.I think in the right place he could be really good , and i think Pittsburgh is the right place. He would be happy to come here. He's not happy there.

Guys like him are a dime a dozen in the minors, except they're not from Latrobe...

I'd rather have Kelly than have Bixler.

He's not from Latrobe, he's from Zelienople. And, he's already spent time with the big club.

He has a future simply because he's a lefty, and they never die or go away.

He looks to me like he's pretty much interchangeable with the dreck we already have pitching at Indy. I wouldn't give up more than a bag of used batting practice balls for him.

AA players have value, while Jackson does not. The guy they gave up to get Bautista looks to me like he's topped out at A ball, and Bautista looks like he's much better than Jackson is.

Wow. I'd love to hear your reasoning behind that. I don't think Bixler is much more than a utility guy, but Kelly? Really? I'm pretty sure I would rather have a batting practice screen play short than Kelly. They'd hit about the same as well.

Speaking of AAA help, what ever happened to Mike Ryan? He was killing the ball last year, and seemed like the perfect utility lefty for PNC.

He was so great that there isn't a single team in baseball willing to give him a job.

Maybe he killed the ball for a few weeks, but that must have been it. Thirty year old corner outfielders coming off a year batting .259 in AAA (not to mention a lousy .309 OBA and 89 K's in 379 ABs) have trouble remaining employed.
