Don't know much about Pearson (or Bautista, for that matter), but we desperately need some RH relief, and a quick look at his numbers suggest he is worth a shot.

Bautista can do big things here but hes got to stay healthy. He has had trouble with that in the past.I'm not familar with Pearson. If somebody could do a stat comparasion that would be great.I do think we got the best of the deal though.

His '08 numbers are sure worth a shot...career numbers not so encouraging. Anyone looked at his profile on mlb.com? Doesn't quite look like he's 6'5" and 190lbs. I'm just saying.

Judging by Pearson's career stats, it does not appear Detroit was too particular about who they got in return. I wonder what Bautista's contract is?

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Bautista is making $395,000 and is not eligible for salary arbitration until 2010.
