Phil Dumatrait (3-3, 3.44) vs. Brian Burres (4-5, 4.96)

1. Sanchez 2B
2. McLouth CF
3. Bay LF
4. Doumit C
5. Nady DH
6. Mientkiewicz 1B
7. Michaels RF
8. Bautista 3B
9. Wilson SS

Nady gets the DH role while Michaels starts in RF, and Doug replaced LaRoche once again.

After what, like 2 or 3 other games this year when we've had a shot to get to .500, we seemed to struggle to get that elusive win. Come on Pirates, let's just get that over with.

I think it would be the latest in the season we've been at .500 in a good while.

I like the lineup. A bit surprised that Freddy is back in the one hole, but I'm pleased that we won't be missing Nady's bat tonight. I don't mind Freddy hitting at the top of the order.. yes, he swings at some bad pitches but he's capable of a three hit night every night of the year. I love the guy so maybe I don't see things realistically.

Those 1970s throwbacks the Orioles are rocking are freaking sweet.

I wish the Pirates would ditch the 60s look and go back to a more 70s/80s inspired jersey with sleeves. I think we are the only team left in the league right now with sleeveless jerseys.

One of the worst renditions of the National Anthem I've ever heard.Image

Why is Sanchez still batting first? :?

As I type this the Pirates go down in order.

I hope the offense doesn't shrivel up and die since we are now in the INTERLEAGUE TWILIGHT ZONE! :o

Very poor first inning. We're lucky to be down only 1-0. And we need some offense.

Why didn't Xman score on Doug's hit?

Thankfully Jack was there to at least get it in some runs. Normally we would pull off the notorious "only get one run in" on that kind of situation.

Nady's running is not close to normal. Ankle or groin, something was holding him back, and so was Beatty, the coach.

I think it's time someone slaps McLouth upside the head and wakes him up. He's had enough sleep recently. Geesh. :?

Glad we got some scoring.

Is Batista ever gonna produce this year. Guess who else should be on the bench.

Phil's got all six outs on ground balls. Good sign.

Mientkiewicz and Michaels! What a Bench folks!! Well done boys!

While Bautista stinks up the joint.

And well done Jack on his big base hit in the bottom of the 2nd inning. As I type, Jack gets another single. Go boys go!!!

To be precise, the latest date the Pirates have been @ .500 in recent years was June 11, 2005: 30-30. As you may remember, they had a Sunday game at PNC vs. Tampa Bay, blew a lead and lost in extra innings. That put them back below .500, and then they went to NY and the Yankees beat them like a rented mule. They haven't been .500 later than April 30 ('07) since.

Is that Phelps in a Jason Michaels mask?

This team is reminding me of the '97 Freak Show in which the role players really made an impression.

McLouth gives it a ride but caught.

Yeah, the interesting part is that the 6 runs have been without McLouth and Doumit.
