Pirate Bullpen has been servin' up some of those recently. Hope that nasty trend doesn't continue especially with this schedule coming up! :?

Thanks Pauley Maholm. I guess we get the bad Maholm tonight. Four Homeruns given up against the Nats. Ridiculous. This is why I am not hopeful about this team. Time will tell won't it.

Sorry, that isn't the bad Maholm. He cruised for 6.1. It is the bad John Russell that was slow to act when his pitcher fell apart. And as was noted on the other thread, even the last HR was off of a very good pitch.

That said, Maholm definitely needs to figure out how to eliminate that one bad inning he seems to have every start.

You can call it what you want to but he gave up four homeruns and let this Nats team right back into the game. Russell wasn't throwing the ball. Maholm was.

Absolutely correct, BBF! If we lose this game it's on Russell.

I get your point too, bassoon.. but it's like Russell and Jeff Andrews were waiting for Maholm to hit 90-100 pitches. They're just sitting on their cans waiting, waiting, waiting..

What did I say. Gopher balls? Matt Capps joins the parade! Ridiculous. I tried to post negative in the game thread to counter what is happening in this lousy game, but even the power of the negative post can't even help this Pirate team win this very important game. Gee.....aren't we all glad that we came back to beat Arizona yesterday to split the series and then turn around and lose like we are going to to the Nats the next night? Sad, very sad. :x

No one to blame, just a tuff one. What a shame.

How will they react tonight may be an indication for the rest of the season. This Washington team is lousy, fighting amoung themselves, and all over the DL with 6 or 7 guys. If we don't win against them at home we can't win period.

It sounds like we got both the good and bad Maholm lastnight...

It seems like he got just a little bit too comfortable with the lead
