Well, their trade value is certainly much higher this season. Both are doing great. Do we wait two more months in which they may or may not continue this pace? Do we trade them at all, realizing that without them this year we could win very few games?
Batista, Paulino, Freddy are all way below expectations. I hope it's Freddy's health holding him back. The other two are simply not talented enough to start for a winner.

I say trade one or both as soon as you can find a good deal for our future years. We are not pitching well enough to win 70 games, so why not grab the best future we can. Maybe someone wants to trade at draft time and we can get some additional quality that way.

I hope they don't get traded yet, unless we get a really good return. I'm tired of losing, and am still hoping for .500 this year.

If they get an offer that is worth it, the pull the trigger immediately. It has nothing to do with giving up on this season. It's about the future and building for it. Trade while their value is high.

If they are out of contention in mid July, then absolutely. If they somehow manage to sneak into the division race, absolutely not.

As it happens, Fox Sports's baseball analyst, Ken Rosenthal, weighs in today with an opinion on trading Bay.

If interested, check it out at:

and scroll down to his "Around the Horn" material.

Sabathia for Bay would be very nice... since they are talking about getting 57 yr old Abreu from the Yankees. Sabathia could then sign a nice deal here in Pittsburgh (proving ownership is ready to spend money) and he would really solidify the rotation. Sounds far fetched, but really how far??? It would be a statement.

You'd give up a year and a half of Jason Bay for half a season of Sabathia at almost twice the pay?

LOL... A joke, man... its just a joke

What else do you think I have to do to pass the time during a call to the bullpen.

Bud Selig is going to come down hard on the Pirates for pace of the game. Their going to ask opposing teams to run to 1B after a walk to keep the pace of the game going. And they will be adapting the 10 run rule after 6 innings.

Teams will protest this requirement, since it would involve running miles during the average start by Gorzellany.

Trade Bay and LaRoche, keep Nady. Stick McCutcheon in LF and move Pearce back to 1B.
