I am here to support my Pirates!!

I must admit, however, that I am wearing shorts and running shoes ... and my iPod ... just in case.

Gorzellany is having trouble locating his pitches. The Pirate catcher is gesturing for him to get the ball down, but everything is up.

I might start warming up.

make sure to stretch before running...dont want a cramp or leg sprain

and if you do go running watch out for Diaz, we dont need you to get a Jack Wilson injury

No way - I would be out for two months. Not going to let that happen.

I'm worried I'd pull a Bixler and crap my pants on trying to keep on adding the pictures to go along with the board

Yeesh, Matt Bush is terrible. Nibbler, nothing fastball, sliders off the outside corner.

Guaranteed that the Pirates struggle. They always struggle against crappy nibblers who get pounded by the rest of the league.

Wow, Pirates are really punishing Bush . . .

Can we say that?

Bay is so un-clutch. A real clutch hitter would have waited until the bottom of the ninth to hit a two run homer when down by one.

Sigh. It's 50 degrees and raining steadily here. Shorts are something we wear in July and put away for the rest of the year at the end of August.

Uh-oh, 100 pitches and Gorzelanny is laboring. Time to turn to the pen.

If we can hang onto this 4-run lead and win the game, that would be great, but I just realized that it's also a huge morale victory that Gorzo will not be pitching against Chicago.

It was absolutely beautiful today. It rained a little earlier in the afternoon, so it was comfortably cool (62 degrees). The rain makes the running trail less dusty. I watched the Buccos score 4 in the 5th, and then could not let the evening go without getting outside.

Recorded the game and watched it after I came back. Gorzo labored through 5+ innings. He just does not have the control that he showed last year. He also does not have a "swing and miss" pitch. He gets ahead of a hitter 0-2 or 1-2 and cannot finish him off. Gorzo winds up going 3-2 to a ton of hitters before the ball is finally put in play. He winds up throwing 100 pitches in 6 innings due to his inability to finish off hitters.

Bay had some nice swings, as did Nady. Both crushed their HR's, one to center and the other oppo. McLouth had four of the ugliest hits ever recorded.

Sanchez looks like he is trying to hit after coming out of a coma. He will swing at any pitch down and away. The problem is that he misses most of these pitches, and even when he hits them, they go to the center fielder, who is standing in the gap in right-center.

*Board crickets*

Not the prettiest of wins, but it was needed desperately. I've come to the conclusion that most Pirates wins are ugly wins, and the Pirates don't win much, therefor ugly wins are great wins. So win, Pirates, win. Get what I'm saying about the wins? :D

- Another rough outing by Gorzo, but he was able to escape with the win. He did come through with a 2-out RBI though. At least he doesn't get to pitch against the Cubs now.

- Even with giving up a couple of hits and a run tonight, Grabow has an ERA of 1.69. Outstanding. Nice 9th inning of work by Urkel as well. When was the last we saw a 1-2-3 inning out of him?

- The Pirates finally got through to a bad pitcher. Amazing what can happen when you get 10 + hits with some of them coming with RISP (as compared to last night). Nady continues to be ON FIRE this series, and well, the entire season. Another HR on going 2-3. And about that Nate McLouth. A career high 4-4 tonight and 3 runs. Gomez is hitting .307 now and has been really clutch with ducks on the pond.

Watched on and off last night. Bush was on a roll for a while. Then in the fourth, I think he started planning his acceptance speech for his induction into the TBHOF and lost his focus. But really, who among us wouldn't?
