... because its still April, but....

Quote:
Adam LaRoche is hitting .316 in his past five games and scored two runs yesterday. When he crossed home plate in the fourth inning on Luis Rivas' single, it marked the first time he had scored since April 14.

I hope he's coming around. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he starts hitting since it's almost May. In my opinion, it's clearly mental. There are no physical reasons he can't hit til may. It's the old gray matter.

He didn't start hitting till well into June last year.

If he does start hitting now, it will be easier for me to accept that his changes to approach were working this year, and he was set back by thumb injury and illness.

We'll see.

I think he'll come around... he started off slow last year as well and turned it on late. Hopefully having some guys crawling up his behind for playing time will keep him rolling like this.

P.S. I miss Kevin Young haha...

Hi . . . long time listener, first time caller.

ZM, the difference between LaRoche's ABs in the beginning of the month and now are significant. While I wouldn't necessarily say that every AB is a quality AB, the times where he looks completely lost are far, far less frequent. Now if Bautista and Sanchez can find their sea legs . . .

He is hitting better. No doubt. Going 1-8 would have constituted hitting "better," but I get your point. He may actually be hitting enough to produce runs.

Too bad almost 1/6th of the season is gone.

No, LaRoche started hitting in mid-May last year. In fact, he hit worse in June than he did in May.

He didn't start hitting like a Major League first baseman until July, though.

That is what I was getting at. Sorry if it was dense.

The point being, he is hitting better, earlier this year than last. At least at the moment.

Man, I hope so. I need the Pirates to make a run and pull off a string of wins or I will cash in my chips very early this season. I'm starting to regret buying the MLB Extra Innings package.
