Nojinx, Nojinx, Nojinx!!

Seriously, I have come around to rooting for the Reds to sweep the D'Backs and put them out of their misery. The Bucs have a ton of games left with Cincy and can TCOB on their own but no more with AZ and we need to see their hope buried.

So you're telling us that Saturday night wasn't particularly helpful, right?

Yep ..... today is a different story thus far. Thank you MIL, PHL and ATL - keep it up!

Edit#1- thanks Milwaukee - one down.

Edit#2- thanks Philadelphia - two down.

Edit#3- thanks Atlanta - three down.

Maybe if the Bucs stop looking at eminantly hittable strike 3s, we'll hit the quinella today.

This board starts way,way too many threads so I will add this comment to this thread. Sorry for the intrusion No. 9

If the pirates only win 10 more games the D-backs have to win 20 more the rest of the way to tie for the presumed final wild card spot. I like those odds.

Go Bucs!

It's also worth noting that the Pirates' magic number over the Marlins now stands at 1. One more Pirate win or Marlin loss and the Pirates will clinch not having the worst record in the National League.

There were times, in the not-too-distant past, when this event would have drawn a collective sigh of relief from the fan base..

Minus 1. I see no problem with the number of threads started on this board. We really don't have that many.

As of Sunday, September 1, 27 games to go:

St. Louis - 27
Cincinnati - 24
Diamondbacks - 19
Nationals - 17

Note re: tiebreakers
Pirates possess tiebreaker advantage over Cardinals and Nationals.
Tiebreaker with Diamondbacks remains undetermined (intraleague records would determine who has tiebreaker).
Tiebreaker between Reds and Pirates is yet to be determined. Bucs lead series 7-6 with 6 to play.

Why is tiebreaker advantage important?
1. If there is a tie for division championship, tiebreaker determines which team hosts one game playoff.
2. If the two wildcard teams have same record, tiebreaker determines home field for the wildcard game.
3. If there is a tie for the second wildcard slot, tiebreaker determines which team hosts the play-in game.
