Does he want to switch to aluminum to stop the slaughter of innocent trees? :D

I don't know how people can live without a rare, juicy steak.

You can still be a vegetarian, and be big if you eat the Rain Forest!!!

He is so fat that it is affecting his hitting. A guy who is that fat at age 22 will be obese by age 30, unless he makes some serious changes to his behavior.

I agree. Look at how big his dad was, and he is way bigger yet. Still, I thought he'd have a few more monster years with the HR's before he ate his way out of the league.

Hey, here's an idea: how about we nominate players for an all-overweight team?

A few possibilities, besides Prince Fielder:
Mike Lavalliere
Greg Luzinski
Gates Brown
Ronnie Belliard
John Kruk
Pete Incaviglia
Terry "A Waist Is a Terrible Thing to Mind" Forster

Agreed. I am also surprised at how quickly his weight seems to have affected his play. He is embarrassing to watch on defense. He looks like a sumo wrestler who wandered onto the field and picked up a first baseman's glove.

Geez, I forgot all about Jimmy Anderson.

Also, Mickey Lolich, Kirby Puckett, David Wells, Fernando Valenzuela, Randall Simon, Rich Garces, Mo Vaughn

Aah! Damn those hackers. I remember we did this last year and I spent a good couple of days researching my club. I am very angry now.

Current Royals 1st baseman Billy Butler is fat and so is ex-Royals 1st baseman Bob Hamlin.

I nominate Fielder's left side at first base and his right side at DH. Did anyone mention David Wells? Fernando Valenzuela?

Good ones, IA. I forgot about Butler and Hamlin. What a couple of large human beings!

And here's another: Bob Wickman

Pirates have yet to play the Brewers, so many may not have seen Prince Fielder this year.

When you do, I will wager that most have the same reaction that I did:

"Wow, he is fat."

Not just rotund like last year - seriously, morbidly obese. He is eating himself out of the league. I suggest sending him a McDonald's gift certificate. Once his fat ass gets over 320 lbs., he will be worthless.

That's the main reason I won't bring up his name when discussing the guys that the Pirates passed over in the draft. He's a great talent, but a lot of teams were reluctant to spend a first round pick on a guy who was capable of eating the entire roster of his rookie league team. I hope that he gets a grip on his problem before he eats himself out of the league.

Wow. Wait until you see him.

He looks like he has gained 20 lbs. since last season. The news that he is a vegetarian is simply . . . astounding.

I guess that I can't yell at him, "Hey, Fielder, mix in a salad now and then."

It ain't the salad, it's the dressing.

I loved John Kruk. A damn good hitter who was faster and a better fielder than most people think.

Butler may be fat, but he makes up for it by having an iron glove at several positions. :D

I would say that "great minds think alike," IAP, but I would clearly be overstating the population by one, since you would be by yourself in that category.
