I hope this extremely long half-inning doesn't have a negative impact on Liriano for the rest of the game.

Doesn't seem to be doing so.

Didn't see this mentioned but FWIW we're missing Matt Harvey on Saturday. He's been scratched with a "blister" but it's likely just to make sure he can pitch in the All-Star game since they said he'd be fully healthy for it.

I love that GIF. Liriano is like the 4th worst thing about it. Wish I could find the clip with sound, would love to know how/why/when/if(?) the first base ump actually reversed his initial out call.

I live in Indy and was at that game. The whole game was played like that by both teams. Liriano was yelling at his defense at one point.

Only third inning. Oakland has there bullpen going already. Hurdle almost never even thinks of taking a guy out this early no matter what the score is.

Yeah, I agree.
His handling of the pitching staff this year has been atrocious. Grounds for termination.

There was no real argument to speak of. It was all around awful. I think it was Lirianos last start in Indy before joining the Pirates.

Yeah I could see that being somewhat common in the minors.

Jose doesn't have prototype RF pop but if he keeps finding those huge gaps in PNC he's valuable for certain.

Y'know, aside from McCutchen, Ray Searage has probably been the single most important piece for the Pirates over the past three years. The reclamation projects he has overseen have been impressive. Liriano was filthy again tonight.

You know its a different year when we beat the A's.

Another big win. We need 2 of 3 against the Mets.

No Harvey and no Wheeler. Get greedy. If the pitching holds, the Pirates may have an opportunity for a sweep. That would be VERY nice...

It's tough to out-score a team 7-4 and substantially out-hit a team during a series but still lose 2 of 3, but hey, it's baseball.
