For those of you not living in the area, it continues to rain with flash flooding in some places. Looks like it may well rain this evening enough to cancel.
With Walker on the shelf and us not hitting, might be a very good thing right now. Thoughts??

The rain is washing away the dust and rust off the Pirates.

Play tonight and wash away the A's.

Maybe the rain will wash away our bats and we will get some new ones with hits in them.

I call upon the powers of Jo-Boo to take the curse off of the Pirates' bats.

I'm not sure Walker being on the self matters much. He only have 5 hits in his last 30 at bats prior to the DL. I honestly think his poor year is the biggest problem with this offense not the pitchers position or bench bats. For the last several years, this team's offensive pulse has been determined by Walker as much as Cutch. When Walker has been injured or performing poorly, we have struggled and he is struggling with the bat. The most notable thing is not only is his batting average down he is getting fewer doubles when he does hit. The only redeeming factor is his walks are up with has put his OBP near a career high. But given the lack of clutch hitting by this team having him at 2nd less and 1st more makes a big difference.

No rainout (or delay)! Coming up to the game tonight on a bus trip with my daughter's sports camp. With no delay, we'll be lucky to get to bed by midnight (on a work night). If there is a delay like last night, we could get home very late.

While I wouldn't mind a rain out, rain delays suck! Last thing you want to have to worry about is kid's bedtimes if the game is interesting...

If you are traveling on a bus, you don't get to decide when to go home. Maybe kids will sleep on bus, but you'll have a tough day Thursday.

Last night there was a lengthy rain delay despite there not being any rain. Kinda reminds me of the time they called a rainout in Washington on a sunny day.

I hope they play. I'd like them to at least have a chance to break their 0 for forever streak against Oakland.

But I'm going to try not to watch. I have stuff to do and I'm tired of watching them fail to score innning after inning. Maybe it will bring them luck.

From what I'm seeing on the radar, there isn't a chance in hell they'll play.

Not that it's all that important, because it looks like we're in for the type of storm where you worry about having a place to live by the time it ends. It really looks grim, and KDKA viewer are sending in pictures of funnel cloud from all over the place. Beaver, Butler and New Castle at least, and the storm really hasn't gotten to Pittsburgh yet.

Well, at least we won. We arrived at 6:30 just as the storm hit and were told that if there was a rain delay that the buses would depart at 11pm. My family went to a restaurant and then to the ballpark around 8:30. First pitch was around 10pm and we got to see 2 1/3 innings before heading for the bus. We sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes while one family made their way back late, and had to listen to the Bucs score all 5 runs on the radio. Made it to bed around 2am, got up at 6am, and made it to work by 8am. But we won, and that's all that matters!
