Don't get me going on RE tables and how they don't have any semblance of significance to any single game situation. That horse has been beaten to death.

Sorry to be pissy fellas. I'm about ready to punch a hole through the wall watching this team have lousy AB after lousy AB.

I'm fine with situational bunting. Just not with my #5 hitter when the guy ahead of him isn't a guarantee to score on a single anyway. There's definitely times I'm all for it, just didn't like it in that instance.

That AB had second half of 2011 written all over it.

Wow. And now we're back to seeing Pedro have a bigger strike zone than everyone else. Swear he gets more pitches called outside than anyone else on our team.

Meh. Back at it tomorrow. Got breaks earlier in the year, didn't get them recently. Long season.

It would be nice if first pitches hadn't become such a no-win situation for him. An integral part of his improvement/success this year was clearly when he started laying off of them rather than being too ambitious and swinging through all of the first pitches he saw. Now it seems like he's laying off ever single one even when they look very hittable which will obviously lead to pitcher's counts.

It's not the number of hits you get, it's when you get them. We have now squandered two very good pitching performances because of our sorry-a$$ offense.

Watch his front hip on those sliders. He's pulling off on everything and trying to yank the ball out of the park. Any pitcher/catcher battery worth a salt could pick that up and exploit the lower outside part of the plate. He needs to get back to keeping that front hip in and driving the ball to the middle of the park.

Lets just try and get 1 tomorrow to end the 4 game losing streak and go from there. One thing I think is for sure though, this offense needs something and it's not just 1 big bat. We had the ideal situation at the end of this game, lead off hitter with some speed gets on with no outs and Cutch, Pedro and Martin up.

Collapse. The offense that is. We all love that word around here. 3 series losses in a row. Pretty good pitching throughout the past 9 games. Wake the hell up offense. Get something at the deadline. Cutch, wake up.

Cutch and Pedro each got one mistake pitch and neither one of them came close to making contact. Not. Even. Close.

They can't be asked to shoulder the load individually. Too much to ask.

And when they won 9 games in a row that was indicative of their talent?

It's a losing streak. It happens. They had 9 hits last night and lost. That's baseball.

The pitching is holding up. They've had several big offensive series on the road. Sky isn't falling.

Just watched Martin's AB in the 7th again. An 0-1 call for a sacrifice would be unusual. Very unusual. Martin waited until after the pitcher broke contact to begin to square around. I know it was ruled a sacrifice but I'd be willing to bet that he was trying to bunt his way on. Not as obvious as Marte's attempt last night but it really didn't look like a sacrifice attempt and it would be strange to try a sacrifice AFTER being down a strike.

Starting to feel like deja vu all over again. Trying to be positive, but its hard. You cant be this enemic offensively and keep winning. Our bench players are weak. i promised myself I wouldn't get to gung ho over this team until late august or September.

Now I have to go to work and hear it from my Oakland A's fan coworker. Now that's a team I wish the Pirates Would learn from. Small market, but they win. We need a guy like Billy been.

And I would be flat out wrong. According to Hurdle's press conference, he gave Martin one swing and then called for the bunt. I've seen that done before but it is unusual ....
