Solid start by Cole. One gopher ball the only blemish. Still be nice to see him mow more guys down. Soft tosser for the A's has 7 strikeouts so far.

We just bunted our #5 hitter with nobody out?

How much does Hurdle hate Martin right now?

Probably about as much as he hated Marte by having him (attempt to) bunt with two on and none out last night.

Yeah, I didn't know how much of that was Hurdle and how much of that was Marte's affinity for giving away strikes at least once a game by randomly showing bunt and not getting it down in fair territory.

Learn the difference between a sacrifice and a drag bunt. That was not a sacrifice effort last night. Not even close.

It's somewhat remarkable how similar these 2 teams are. Bullpen numbers, fielding numbers, etc..

Tonight we see a 2 run homer vs a 1 run homer.

Last night it was a wild pitch. Or the phenomenal catch. Or just sh*tty luck outhitting them 9-3 and losing.

We just can't seem to get over the hump against them. Make no mistake, the A's are very good.

Really? You don't think it has anything to do with the inability of this team to string hits together? I'm guessing that Hurdle hates watching pop up, ground out, K, ground out, pop up, double play, etc and is simply trying anything to push a run across. And, for what it's worth, that was an awfully late break by Martin if it was a traditional sacrifice. I thought it was a poor call by the Official Scorer. Generous to the home town player to save him an official AB.

Never ceases to amaze me though. The players at bat are sucking ass and its Hurdle's fault.

And if we lived in Colorado we'd be freaking out about our pitching.

I don't believe in ever calling for a play that, if executed perfectly, lowers your probability of a win.
