1. Marte is clearly a young player who needs much seasoning. Great talent but way overly aggressive. Either that or the area above his shoulders is very weak.
2. We have no bench. Inge, McHenry, Barmes-- oh boy. I know Jones is bad against lefties but my god--- Inge?

Ryan Howard is 0 for his last 22...Cumpton has 5 shutout once again and a lefty should have been in the game....Wake up Clint.... :? :? :?

I'll never get upset over mistakes made being aggressive.

Jonny Pettibone threw 4 billion pitches on the outside corner, and the Pirates tried to pull 3,999,999,999 of them.

Pretty much this. I've been poking around out of boredom and I really can't see a move out there that takes this offense out of the 20's. Most of the issues are teamwide....not a guy you can just swap out to eliminate a flaw. I mean, yeah, Stanton, Harper, Trout, Cabrera, players of that ilk would but right now none of those guys sound like they're on the block (and by those guys I of course mean Stanton since he's the only one who sounds even close to near the block).

Just kinda gotta let them grow together I guess and go with what got you here....defense and pitching. I'm hopeful that Mercer's walk rate increases, Pedro sustains his rate over the past month or so, and Cutch turns it around (aka gets hot and sees a jump back up to his 2011 numbers pop-wise). That'd probably be the biggest assets to this team's offensive future.

Y'know, this is the thread-happiest board I've ever been on. We do already have a game day thread. Why'd we need another one?

Doesn't appear Tabata is doing much in Indy to excite.

And that was the game. Agreed. He LIVED on the outside corner. I'm pretty sure opposing pitchers will learn from that...

It would be nice if the Pirate hitters would learn to hit it the other way.

I'd kiss Travis Snider on the mouth if he started hitting doubles into the left-center gap...
