Did anyone report anything on this? I was interested to see why he did it.

My money is on the Cardinals dugout yelling out to Burnett letting him know that he was throwing a no-no.

I love this guy.

I actually thought he was shushing the fans that were chanting for the Cardinals. Are we sure it was the dugout?

Also, please refer to my avatar.

AJ was interviewed on MLB network and they asked him about it. He said they were chirping a lot and he thought they were getting on Martin about something. That's why he gave them the shhh. Said he later found out they were actually getting on the ump and apologized for it.

He also did a "watch" motion towards home plate (pointing to his eyes then towards Martin). I'm not sure what that was about. At any rate AJ is fun to watch, it would be great if he decides to play another year and wants to stick around.

Thanks Shark! They speculated on the telecast that maybe the batter was trying to see Martin's signs, that might have been it.

Yep, I believe that's exactly what it was. I love this guy's fire...great for this team!

It's been a long time since we have had a gutsy leader like this to cheer for!

I agree whole heartedly.. I wasn't excited when we got him because I didn't think he had much in the tank, and I thought he had a reputation as a jerk.

I think he's just one of those guys that does better out of the big markets. He's been a model clubhouse guy, and yes, I love the passion with which he competes. I never worry about a game when he's pitching.

I like the results when AJ pitches.

I also like, very much, the kind words he has about the Pirates players and fans. It matters, since potential FA signees may not have this information, and if they know AJ had very good things to say about the team and the fans, that helps.

Not as much as an additional $5 million, I grant you, but still - it helps.

Would love to see him here beyond this season. I have no idea what that would take financially.

With him, Cole, and Taillon our games could really start to matter. Wandy should be here next year too.

He was quoted recently as saying if he plays anywhere next year, it will be in Pittsburgh. More comments like that from high-profile major leaguers, and maybe someday we can attract a decent free agent.

I was never a big fan of his until "sit the fuck down" happened last year. Now I would follow that man into hell.
