Nice article. I would like to see him stick around for another year or two.

Remenber thatlast year he wasn't pitching yet because of his bunting injury. If he continues on this pace, and there is no reason to think he won't (other then injury- he's 36), he will have a career year.
Should we start talking to him about an extention for 2 or 3 years? I think so.

2-3 years? No way. 1 year contracts for a guy his age.

After another losing season he'll want to play for a contender anyway.

I didn't know that. Well, he has won a World Series already. We should bring him back.. Gaylord Perry still had great stuff when he was forty.

This isn't going to be a losing season.

OK, we heard it here first, and most emphatically from BD.

Of course, you seem to be right on Marte. And I had my doubts....

LOL, for everyone I get right (AJ) I usually get another wrong (Bedard). I still stand by my 84 win prediction.

It certainly makes sense to bring him back on a one-year deal in 2014 if he'll sign it. Give him between $6 and $8 million to lead the staff.

A.J. has a role with this team, fits a need and he seems to like it.

As a WS winner [and a former break-the-bank FA] he really has 'nothing to prove' (unless he really covets a CY).

A 'long' (three year) deal would be acceptable for all parties.

Better he finish in a place that he likes and where can contribute in the twilight of his career than to go 'chasing' after riches he can still get in the City of Champions.
