Somebody has to fill out the roster at Indianapolis.

Interesting comment from MLBTR:

Quote:
Inge played 74 games with the A's. With him, the team went 46-28 (.621). Without Inge, the A's were 48-40. They played better with him and then without him. Pretty good addition for a no risk signing.

Sure. I'd like to think we'd have a few younger guys to try though. Maybe not.

Correlation does not equal causation.

When Inge did not play third they mostly used Josh Donaldson, who combined Inge's inability to hit with a horrific glove. Inge may not be the highlight reel third baseman that he used to be, but he still has a decent glove.

If wins and losses are a lousy stat to evaluate pitchers with, and they most definitely are, how much worse is it to evaluate third basemen with wins and losses?

If Alvarez gets injured for any period of time, we'll need someone to fill his shoes and play third base while striking out in over one-third of his at bats. Inge can do that.

Haaaaaa.

I hate Brandon Inge (as a player, I just don't like him cause he sucks - I'm sure he's a wonderful human being) and always made fun of my Oakland friend for their employing him.

Now the tables have turned.

Pirates were 'better' with Gorkys Hernandez than with Starling Marte, I'd imagine.
