Who is CLint Robinson?

Think of him Garrett Jones circa 2009:

Robinson actually had a much better minor league career than Jones did, but for some reason the Royals were not willing to give him a shot. Jones probably has more power than Robinson does, but Robinson appears to have much better plate discipline. The real question for me is, if Robinson gets a shot, whether Robinson will maintain his batting average and play acceptable defense.

The fact that Robinson is right-handed and will play in a park that saps power from right-handed hitters also matters.

Jones' value to the Bucs lies primarily in his ability to hit right-handed pitchers and make them pay for mistakes at PNC Park. That's why #46 is so valuable to the Pirates in 2013 -- none of the other 1B options (Gaby Sanchez, Jerry Sands, Clint Robinson) are lefty hitters.

Robinson is a lefty, he's almost a Jones clone. Not that that guarantees him hitting well in the bigs.
