BTW, Jason Grilli apparently left money on the table to stay a Pirate and FanFest generated record numbers. So much for Hoka Hey . . .

And Edwin Jackson took less to go elsewhere last year. What's your point?

I'm sure Piratefest is fun, and if I lived closer would probably go. But people go to Piratefest for similar reasons they fill up the park on fireworks nights. Please tell me you aren't trying to prove your point by bringing up record crowds at fire..er, I mean Piratefest.

The guys running our minor league system have zero baseball teaching experience, but are described by NH as very intelligent guys. They constantly send guys through the system with limited developmental skills. They do however run a militaristic type of program highlighted by Hoka Hey(which was a big enough deal to draw the ire of the owner). Yea, they are really intelligent. Give me some dumb baseball guys any day...

As for the DK part, I agree he is beating the heck out of the dead horse. Doesn't mean I don't agree with his points though...

Speaking of beating a dead horse, the Pirates manage to get quite a few butts in seats when they aren't shooting off fireworks nowadays. Get a new stick.

Why not read all of the posts to gain the context. No. 9 was using a full house at Piratefest to make a point of how well the Pirates are doing. I'm equating Piratefest to fireworks nights in that they are fan friendly events that draw the diehard fan as well as many casual fans looking for freebies, photo ops with players, and autographs. It's a great event, but just shouldn't be used as proof that the Pirates are going great guns, IMO. Don't know that I've ever posted here about fireworks...EVER...so it sure isn't my "shtick"...but nice try, thanks for playing along! Sorry my opinion doesn't line up with yours...I know that means I"M WRONG!

My point was not that attendance is indicative that the Pirates are doing great. My point is that people aren't buying the Hoka Hey vitriol. Looks like a non-issue to me.

I did read all of the posts. The Pirates increasing attendance at ballgames is proof enough that they're pleasing fans more every year. Increasing attendance at Piratefest is also in indicator that interest in the Pirates is increasing, special event or no, because it is an annual event that provides pretty much the same attractions from year to year.

I really don't care whether or not your opinion lines up with mine, because when more people show up for the Pirates, in whatever context, that indicates that interest in them is increasing. That isn't my opinion, though, it's a fact.

I didn't say "schtick" I said "stick", as in to beat them with.
