Nate is getting the night off...Michaels is in CF batting 3rd...

F. Sanchez 2b
J. Bautista 3b
J. Michaels cf
J. Bay lf
X. Nady rf
A. LaRoche 1b
R. Paulino c
B. Bixler ss
T. Gorzelanny p

Battling Chuck James and his 7.62 ERA, but I believe was a member of BD's pitching club

I get giving Nate a day off. I get the fact that you want to get Michaels right in there as soon as possible.

I do NOT understand batting him 3rd.

This is probably one of the worst lineups we've put out there this year...and against Chuck James. I would prefer to "kick em while they're down" and put in our starting 8 tonight and use the B lineup to rest your regulars against a tougher pitcher.

I'd wish I'd have known earlier, I'm stuck with Nate starting tonight on my fantasy team, so I'm hoping for a big pinch hit tonight...

Yeah, I'd be for beating on the weakling, but at the same time, didnt Chuck own us last season...

Maybe Russell is putting the crap lineup out there against a guy who owns the Pirates

They had a stat on the pregame show on FSN, the Pirates are 16-13 against all teams not Chicago (0-8), and are scoring one run more (5.? vs 4.?) against their opponents than against the Cubbies and are pitching better too against non Cubs teams...

Maybe Russell has been channeling Jim Leyland, because that's a classic Leyland move.

Removing both McLouth and Doumit just sucks the run production out of the lineup. Paulino has made a career of hitting left-handers, but this year, he is hitting lefties with much less success than Doumit.

The Pirate announcers said when Smoltz comes off the DL he's going to the bullpen

Gorzellany is showing much better control today than his previous starts. He is locating his fastball pretty well (other than a horrible pitch to Texiera) and his offspeed stuff looks pretty good.

If he can locate his pitches like this, he will be fine.

Meanwhile, the offense struggles against a crap starter, Upchuck James.

Most un-clutch 2 run homer ever. Bay is a bum.

You must be thinking of a different guy. James this year had a 7.62 ERA in 3 starts, allowing 14 hits, 7 walks and 11 runs in 13 innings.

Freddy's throws are horrible tonight. I have no doubt his shoulder is injured. Several tosses have barely made it to Laroche.

You have to wonder if Jack wasn't injured whether they would consider putting him on the DL. However, with Jack already out, I imagine sitting Freddy is an absolute last resort.

Pirates have gotten some big hits when needed. Paulino drives one to the fence with two out, two on to give the Buccos a 3-run lead.

Go Jason Michaels. 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

Its a good thing we got Michaels, cuz Morgan couldn't cut it and Nate is nothing but a 5th OFer...

Michaels with 3 hits, including two ropes. Nice that McLouth is given a day off and his substitute plays a huge role in driving the offense.

Greg Brown and Steve Blass were saying Freddy was the guest on Rocco's radio post game show lastnight and Freddy said his shoulder is really flaring up again

He had a weak throw in the San Fran series turning the double play...And there was a play tonight where he took the throw to 2nd but didnt even make an attempt to try turning the DP...

Osoria? I am not a fan of bringing him into a game where the lead is less than 5 runs. Or when the Pirates are trailing. Or when a white ball with red stitches is used.
