I think we should show interest in every player in the organization (including Craig Wilson! Ha!) Seriously it's fun to follow the Indianapolis Indians, Curve, etc. I'm excited to see the Hickory Crawdads here in July!

Its a good risk to take, from some of the stories I saw on him, he throws 92-93 and his fastball has some good movement on it...

I believe he throws a cutter too...

He had an ERA over 5 with the big club and was in single A last year. Why am I supposed to be excited about this?

You're not.

If you remember Craig Wilson was one of the best hitters in baseball a few years ago. (In the opinion of this board)

Finally the time has come for all the Wilson haters. They can no longer be challenged to go back and find a single post to support that lie.

I'm not even going to enter that can of worms. Those that were here know what was said.

A 25 year old pitcher with stuff in the 90s is a better signing than a 32 year old utility infielder. Even if he doesn't amount to anything in Pittsburgh, it's still nice to see the organization taking a limited chance on a guy who was once seen as a pretty good prospect.

You already chose to open that can of worms. Your statement has been made here many times before, and every time it was made one poster or another would challenge the person who made it to produce a single post stating that Craig Wilson was an All Star, or a future Hall of Famer, or one of the best hitters in baseball, depending on the claim being made. Not a single post was ever produced.

But it's so easy to flame and redirect on a message board!

The one thing I love about Wilson is that the guy wants to be in Pittsburgh. I'll take 5 of those guys over one really talented guy who hates it in the Burgh.

I find it interesting that one who says Wilson was a nice bench/platoon player to have, now is a Wilson-hater.

Because hate is the easiest thing to do when you're a Pirates fan.

Similar to those who said Wilson was better than any other option the Pirates ran out there during his time with Pittsburgh are now supposedly of the opinion that he was the best outfielder in the NL.

Funny, huh?

Nah. I believe the term was "top ten hitters in the league".

or some such....

That should get it going good.

Actually, wasn't the consensus that Craig should be MVP? In fact, I think some even went so far as to suggest that we rename the National League the Craig Wilson League.

I swear those posts were made...too bad I can't go back and find them now...

Pittsburgh is a Coca Cola town...Pepsi sucks

Atlanta is a Coca Cola town. Atlanta sucks; ergo, Coca Cola sucks.

Though I do admit I prefer Diet Coke to Diet Pepsi. Ergo, I must also suck.

I'd better work on my logic.

If injuries hit and the Pirates need a rh pinch hitter, I wouldn't mind seeing Craig up here.

He was a very, very good pinch hitter during his time with the Pirates. In fact, he produced 12 pinch-hit HR's along with a .879 career OPS in the pinch (despite a pedestrian batting average).

The Craigster also tied the MLB record for most PH homers in a season with seven.

Coca Cola town? Pepsi town? We all know that Pittsburgh is a Cherokee Red kind of town.
